Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth II is under medical supervision as doctors are “concerned for Her Majesty’s health.”

The announcement on Thursday comes a day after the 96-year-old monarch canceled a meeting of her Privy Council and was told to rest.

The palace says the queen is “comfortable” and remains at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she has spent the summer.

Prime Minister Liz Truss said “the whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.”

A deadly stabbing rampage over the Labour Day weekend in rural Saskatchewan underscores a critical lack of social supports in Canada's justice system, experts say. 

RCMP have named Myles Sanderson, 32, as a suspect in Sunday's attacks on the James Smith Cree Nation and nearby village of Weldon, northeast of Saskatoon, that left 10 people dead and 18 injured. His younger brother Damien Sanderson, who had also been named a suspect, was also found dead near one of the crime scenes Monday from wounds police said were not self-inflicted.

A local school in northwestern Ontario is seeing a nearly $3 million investment to expand its operation.

Earlier this week, the federal government and Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Marcus Powlowski announced a $2.9 million investment in Mishkosiminiziibiing’s Pegamigaabo School, to help meet the community’s cultural, educational and environmental needs.

The community of Mishkosiminiziibiing, otherwise known as Big Grassy River First Nation, has a reported population of 277 residents and is located in the Morson area, west of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.

RCMP say two men went on a stabbing rampage in Saskatchewan on Sunday. They say 10 people died and 18 others were injured at several locations on the James Smith Cree Nation and nearby village of Weldon. They say one of the suspects, Damien Sanderson, was later found dead. The second suspect, Myles Sanderson, was arrested Wednesday and died shortly after. Here's a timeline of the police response. 5:40 a.m. - RCMP gets the first report of a stabbing on the James Smith Cree Nation.

The update comes as the Canadian Transport Agency tries to close a loophole that left some passengers unable to secure cash refunds after pandemic-related flight cancellations.

Starting Thursday, airlines will be required to issue a full refund for cancellations and delays if passengers are not placed on a new flight within 48 hours, including for reasons outside of the airline's control. 

Mounties say Myles Sanderson, a suspect in a deadly series of stabbings in Saskatchewan, went into medical distress a short time after he was taken into custody.

RCMP say Sanderson had stolen a truck in the town of Wakaw and was arrested in the vehicle.

The 32-year-old was then pronounced dead at a Saskatoon hospital.

Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore says the RCMP has requested an independent investigation into the circumstances of Sanderson's death.

A dangerous persons alert ended Wednesday just before 4 p.m. when the Saskatchewan RCMP announced that Myles Sanderson was located and taken into police custody near Rosthern, Sask. around 3:30 p.m. 

This ended a manhunt that began early Sunday as multiple reports came in of stabbings on James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon.

A massive four-day manhunt came to an end north of Saskatoon on Wednesday as RCMP took into custody Myles Sanderson, a fugitive suspect in a deadly series of stabbings that left an entire region on edge and families immersed in grief.

A source with knowledge of the investigation said Sanderson died after he was taken into custody. RCMP were preparing to hold an evening news conference.
