OPP investigating suspicious death on railroad tracks
Police have started an investigation into why a man was found deceased on railroad tracks in Fort Frances over the weekend.
The Fort Frances OPP says 46-year-old Sterling Macintyre was found deceased on August 13 at roughly 3 a.m. on the Crowe Avenue railroad tracks, and the cause of death is unknown at this time.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for later this week, and at this point, no foul play is suspected.

Checking out last night's results for Kenora slo pitch. On the men's side, it was Sons of Pitches that took the game over Lakeside Dental 24-15 and Beauty Bay scored 16 runs to beat the Legends' 12 runs.
In the women's division, DJ Services Storm took it 29-12 to defeat the Strykers. Shear Heaven Clippers snuck by the CarStar Renegades 15-13, KTown Kafé blew past Jarnel 21-7, while Bat Intentions took their second win this week by outscoring Bob's Burgers 19-15.
Blue-green algae confirmed in Wabigoon Lake
A blue-green algae bloom has been confirmed in Wabigoon Lake, in Dryden.
A sample of the bloom was taken in the Bonny Bay area and results show that toxins were present that exceed the Ontario Drinking Water Standard. Since the testing earlier this month, concentrations may now be higher or lower, depending on how the bloom has evolved; and the bloom can move and may not be localized to a single location on the lake.

'Malicious intent' suspected in wolf escape, Greater Vancouver Zoo says
The Greater Vancouver Zoo said Tuesday afternoon that a number of its wolves were on the loose after the animals were believed to have been released from their enclosure as a result of "malicious intent."
However, it said there was no danger to the public, and it was working with the B.C. Conservation Officer Service to "contain" the animals, while the Langley RCMP investigated what appeared to be a case of unlawful entry and vandalism.
OPP investigating Highway 17 crash between pick-up, semi
The OPP is investigating a collision between two vehicles on Highway 17 yesterday, which closed one lane of the highway for a few hours.
The OPP released new information on the collision on August 16, saying it took place at 12:30 p.m. between a pick-up truck pulling an RV that was turning onto Highway 17 from Highway 71, and a tractor trailer unit that was travelling on Highway 17.
Two individuals from the pick-up truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Canada's inflation rate slows to 7.6% in July as gas prices fall
Canada's year-over-year inflation rate slowed to 7.6 per cent in July, with the deceleration largely driven by a decline in gas prices.
The inflation rate hit a nearly 40-year-high of 8.1 per cent in June, but economists were widely expecting inflation to have since slowed.
In its latest consumer price index report, Statistics Canada said the rise in prices in July was the smallest monthly gains since December 2021.
It also marks the first decline in year-over-year inflation since June 2020.
Ontario’s 2023 budget aims to help NWO ‘get back on track’
Northwestern Ontario’s member of provincial parliament says Ontario’s new budget will help to address gaps created by COVID-19 across the region.
“We’ve got to get back on track and build out northwestern Ontario,” said Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford, in an interview with the Q Morning Show. “Hospitals to highways, bridges to broadband, we’re focused on a number of different opportunities.”
