Winkler native David Schaeffer is officially a published children's author. After a lifelong passion for storytelling and a creative spark fueled by a family birthday gift idea, David's first children's book, Rosalba Raccoon and Other Stories, is now available — and he's celebrating with a book launch on May 3rd at the Winkler Library.

"I've loved reading for a long, long time," David shares. "But it was the fall of 2023 when I needed to come up with a birthday present for my young nephew, and I thought, 'OK, this is the time.'"

How often do you get the chance to support rescued animals and possibly pocket thousands of dollars? The Pembina Valley Humane Society (PVHS) is once again inviting the community to be part of their annual 50/50 draw — a fundraiser that’s anything but small-town in scale.

The raffle draw takes place April 28th at 5:00 PM at the Access Event Centre, and tickets are just $10 each or 3 for $20.

A champion for diversity honoured

The Morden Area Foundation has officially announced Shelley Voth as the 2024 Citizen of Distinction—a recognition that shines a spotlight on residents who make Morden a better place to live through both professional contributions and volunteer efforts.

Our thanks to Southwood School for having us to celebrate the March Classroom of the Month! Spring break meant we had to go a week late, but the kids were pumped to have us!

A special shout-out to the amazing students in Mr. Giesbrecht's grade 1/2 class who were so much fun, and had some great interviews.
