Steele looking forward to campaign chats

It's Day 2 of the Saskatchewan election as conversations are taking place across the province.

Cypress Hills MLA Doug Steele is entering his third campaign after first getting elected in 2016.

"There's a lot of things I like to speak with our constituents over right now," said Steele. "The world is in a crazy space and the province of Saskatchewan I feel we've been strong and moving forward, so I'm looking forward to meeting with constituents as we move around down the campaign trail."

Who is running in the provincial election?

With the provincial election campaign kicking off today, there are 226 people, so far, who have announced their intention to seek a seat in the Saskatchewan Legislature, across the 61 ridings of the province. So far, just the two incumbent parties, the Saskatchewan Party and the NDP, have full slates of candidates nominated by the party. The Green Pary has 59 candidates listed so far as well.

What YOU say are the biggest issues heading into the election

With the provincial election campaign now underway, the people of Saskatchewan will get to cast their ballots on October 28th. Over the course of the next 27 days, candidates in 61 ridings will be vying for the votes of the electorate, with the parties outlining how they will best tackle the issues facing the province.

The question is, what are the issues facing the province according to the people of Saskatchewan?

Elections Saskatchewan now accepting mail-in ballot applications

Elections Saskatchewan is sending out letters letting residents know how to apply for mail-ballots.

The letters were sent out during the Labour Day long weekend to make people aware that a provincial election is coming as well as mail-in ballot information.

Tim Kydd, senior director of outreach and communications for Elections Saskatchewan, said voting by mail was popular during the pandemic.

Southeast Saskatchewan voters speak out in pre-election poll

Over the weekend, we had a poll on Discover Weyburn to find out the thoughts of voters in the southeast ahead of the provincial election, which will likely be called in the coming days. Those who took part in the poll answered which party they were most aligned with, which party they were least likely to vote for, and which leader they trusted the most. The responses below are for the three ridings in the immediate Weyburn area - Weyburn-Bengough, Moosomin-Montmartre, and Estevan-Big Muddy.
