Dyck brilliant, Broncos score three in the third in 4-1 win over Hitmen
Despite being outshot 31-16, the Swift Current Broncos would come away with a strong third period defeating the Calgary Hitmen 4-1 Wednesday night.
Both teams would get chances in the first period with power play but Calgary would take the shot total 13-1 in the first period but Reid Dyck (Winkler, MB) would stand tall on a ferocious Calgary power play with plenty of chances. But it would be a scoreless draw heading to the second.
Broncos back to .500 in comeback win over Wheat Kings
Ty Coupland would bury the shootout winner and Joey Rocha would be terrific in a 32 save effort to help the Swift Current Broncos get to the .500 mark with 4-3 comeback win over the Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday night.
The Wheat Kings would fire 12 pucks at Joey Rocha (Nanaimo, BC) but it would be shot twelve that would solve the Broncos goaltender to get the lone goal in the first from Carter Klippenstein at 19:25 to give the hometown Wheat Kings a 1-0 lead after 1.
Gould's five points hands Blades first loss in 6-3 Bronco victory
Rylan Gould had a career night while Ty Coupland’s first career hat-trick would end the undefeated streak of the Saskatoon Blades with a 6-3 Swift Current Bronco victory Friday night.
The Broncos would open the scoring at 7:28 on a Blades power play Rylan Gould (Headingly, MB) would break in on a shorthanded chance and beat goaltender Evan Gardner to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead from Clarke Caswell (Brandon, MB). The Blades would come back just under seven minutes later with Cooper Williams solving Reid Dyck (Steinbach, MB) drawing things even at 1-1 after 1.
Broncos fall in Saskatoon
The Blades would open the scoring at 6:28 as Cooper Williams would score his first WHL goal right after the first media timeout to make it 1-0 Saskatoon. Shortly after on a 4-on-4 that turned into a shortened power play would see Ty Coupland (North Vancouver, BC) score his first of the season from Brady Birnie (Regina, SK) & Luke Mistelbacher (Steinbach, MB) at 9:12 draws things even at 1-1.
Broncos drop home opener to Blades
Two, two goal periods by the Saskatoon Blades spoiled the Swift Current Broncos home-opener plans with a 4-1 defeat on Friday night.
The first period saw the Blades hit the post and crossbar in the first six minutes of the opening period of the season but at 8:04 the Blades would solve starting goaltender Reid Dyck (Winkler, MB) as Kohen Lodge would fire his 1st WHL goal to make it 1-0 Saskatoon. The Blades would take that lead into the second period.
