Broncos snap losing skid with win in Moose Jaw

Dawson Gerwing’s late mark in the second period, paired with a brilliant performance from Joey Rocha helps the Swift Current Broncos snap a five game losing skid with a road 3-2 win in Moose Jaw Friday night.

The Broncos would open the scoring on the first and only power play of the period as Rylan Gould (Headingly, MB) would re-direct a Brady Birnie (Regina, SK) shot for his 10th of the season. Carlin Dezainde would add a secondary assist to make it 1-0 Broncos. Swift Current would out shoot the Warriors 17-9 in the period and take their one goal lead to the 2nd period.

Broncos fall in shootout to Blades

Despite never trailing in Saturday’s road game in Saskatoon, the Swift Current Broncos couldn’t get the extra point in a 4-3 shootout loss the Blades at SaskTel Centre.

The Broncos would open the scoring at 6:59 as Clarke Caswell (Brandon, MB) would notch his 9th of the season and his second goal in as many games from Luke Mistelbacher (Steinbach, MB) after following a bouncing puck tight in the Blades crease. Saskatoon would tie the period late in the 1st thanks to David Lewandowski as he took away a break-out pass to tie the game at 1-1 after 1.

Broncos drop second straight game in loss to Warriors

Rilen Kovacevic would score his first career WHL hat-trick while the Moose Jaw Warriors displaced the Swift Current Broncos Tuesday night 7-4 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

A good start for the Broncos saw the momentum swing back in Moose Jaw’s favour half-way through the first period at 10:54 as defenceman Aiden Ziprick would net his 5th of the season to give the Warriors the lead heading to the second period where’d they’d outshoot the Broncos 11-7.

Broncos fall in Brandon

The Brandon Wheat Kings scored six straight goals for an eventual 7-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos Saturday night at Westoba Place.

Just one shot found the back of the net in period one as the Wheat Kings would counter on a Broncos break-out and Marcus Nguyen would walk-in and beat Broncos goaltender Joey Rocha (Nanaimo, BC) to give the home side the lead going to the 2nd. Brandon would out shoot the Broncos 9-5 after 20.

Broncos drop Tuesday Nighter to Americans

The Swift Current Broncos (13-7-0-0) dropped their first loss at home since October 12, falling 3-1 to the Tri-City Americans (14-5-1-0) Tuesday night.

Despite hitting the post twice early in the first, Broncos forward Luke Mistelbacher (Steinbach, MB) would continue to carry his hot hand with his 14th goal of the season from Josh McGregor (Brandon, MB) & Carlin Dezainde (Calgary, AB). With the goal, Mistelbacher has a league high 15 game point streak.
