Younger infants can receive measles vaccines, Ponteix high risk area

Infants aged six months to 11 months can now get a dose of the measles vaccine.

Saskatchewan is making the vaccine available to younger children in areas with measles cases and a high chance of exposure.

That's for children who live in, are traveling to, or have contact with individuals in areas where there is a high risk of measles exposure.

RCMP offer more details on deadly drug circulating in Swift Current

After three overdoses and a death, local police are warning of a dangerous illicit drug circulating in the Swift Current area.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP reported on May 20, 2025, that they were dispatched to assist EMS at three calls where individuals were suffering overdose symptoms.

One person was declared deceased by medical personnel.

Hazlet student receives prestigious $125,000 Kennedy Scholarship

A Hazlet student has achieved both a huge honour and opportunity from the University of Calgary.

Braden Baumann, a Grade 12 student at Hazlet school, received the Kennedy Scholars Academic Excellence Scholarship from the University of Calgary.

He is the only student from outside of Calgary to get this scholarship this year.

Broncos deal Birnie to Penticton, Shaunavon's Stevenson joins Vees

A major move by the Swift Current Broncos at the WHL Penticton Vees expansion draft.

Instead of simply allowing the Vees to pick a player from their roster or protected list, the Broncos made a significant deal with the incoming WHL franchise out of the Okanagan.

They've sent veteran forward Brady Birnie and 2009-born prospect Brooks DeMars to the Vees for a 2025 WHL Prospects Draft 4th-round pick, a 2026 2nd-round pick, a 2027 1st-round pick, a 2028 5th-round pick, and a conditional 8th-round pick in 2028.

Barber guilty on two of seven charges

A mixed result for Stewart Valley's Chris Barber today.

Barber and fellow “Freedom Convoy” organizer Tamara Lich have been found guilty of counselling others to commit mischief for their roles in the 2022 mass protest in Ottawa.

The two were also found guilty of committing mischief themselves, but Crown lawyers requested to have that finding stayed.

Former premier calls for diversifying energy trading partners

Former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is urging trade diversification in the face of American uncertainty.

While a lot of focus in the federal election campaign has been on dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump, Wall doesn't know if anyone is really prepared for Trump's approach.

"Either are going to be as able as the other one to deal with the President," Wall said. "It changes every day. I'm not sure if there's anybody, including people in the President's own administration, who are ready for that kind of volatility and the changes we've seen."
