Wetaskiwin RCMP take suspect into custody after alleged vehicle theft

Wetaskiwin RCMP say a suspect is in custody after a vehicle was stolen Wednesday evening.

Police say they received a report of the theft around 6:05 p.m. Officers located the vehicle, but the suspect fled on foot.

RCMP searched the area of Highway 2 and Township Road 442 and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Maskwacis RCMP charge resident with alleged gun trafficking

In February 2025, Maskwacis RCMP began an investigation into illegally purchased firearms in the community.

As part of the investigation, police identified a suspect and determined that several of the firearms purchased by him had been recovered at crime scenes in Maskwacis and in other detachments and provinces.

As a result, RCMP have charged 24-year-old Maskwacis resident Colby Ray Buffalo with firearms trafficking and transfer without authority.

The RCMP continue efforts to locate outstanding firearms and say the investigation is ongoing.

Maskwacis RCMP arrest suspect for alleged stabbing in Ponoka

A man has been arrested and charged after a group altercation that resulted in a woman allegedly being stabbed in the head. 

On August 18, Ponoka RCMP received a report of a group of people fighting on the street. Several more calls came in advising that a woman had been stabbed in the head and the suspect was heading northbound on Highway 2A.

Officers arrived and located a victim with a knife wound to the head. She was transported to hospital by EMS and treated for her injuries.

RCMP arrest violent offender, seize drugs and gun in Ponoka

A joint RCMP operation has led to the arrest of a violent offender and the seizure of drugs, cash and a gun following a late July investigation in Central Alberta.

On July 30, Wetaskiwin RCMP, with the support of several specialized units, located Aaron James Olsen at a property in Ponoka. Officers observed the 42-year-old Beaver County resident trafficking drugs from a vehicle and arrested him along with a passenger after conducting a traffic stop.

A search of the vehicle and a subsequent warrant execution resulted in the seizure of:

  • $6,850 in cash

Lacombe police find loaded gun and suspected drugs during traffic stop

A man is facing several charges after Lacombe police found suspected drugs and a loaded firearm during a traffic stop over the weekend.

Police say the stop took place around 1:40 a.m. on July 27 at the intersection of 52nd Avenue and 51st Street, after officers observed a violation under the Traffic Safety Act.

While speaking with the driver, officers noticed suspected drugs on the vehicle’s centre console and signs consistent with drug use. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

RCMP seek suspect last seen in Red Deer

Alberta RCMP needs your help in tracking down Jennifer Lynn Adshead, who is wanted for various crimes.

She was last seen in Red Deer and is also known to frequent Lacombe, Ponoka, Rimbey and Olds.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP find deceased youth

Rocky Mountain House RCMP have confirmed the death of Cory Gopher-Desjarlais.

At this time, her death is not believed to be criminal in nature.

She had been reported missing earlier on Monday (May 26).

Police have not released any further information.
