In the shepherd's care
Psalm 23:1–2
Like many of the songs found in the Bible, Psalm 23 states its case in the first verse and simply verifies it in the remainder of the song. The key thought is this: Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall lack nothing! No uncertainty should frighten me. Here is the way the theme of Psalm 23 is played out in the balance of David's famous song:
I shall not lack rest or provision—why? He makes me lie down in green pastures.
I shall not lack peace—why? He leads me beside quiet waters.
4,000 people without power near Assiniboine Park
Around 4,000 customers are without power on the western side of Assiniboine Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Manitoba Hydro posted on X sharing the news. "Winnipeg - about 4,000 customers are without power on the western side of Assiniboine Park and north into Silver Heights. Crews are en route."
10-20 cm of snow possible for parts of Manitoba, special weather statement issued
Parts of western Manitoba are now under a special weather statement as a snow-filled system sets its sights on Manitoba.
A developing low-pressure system from Alberta is set to bring heavy snowfall to western Manitoba, beginning late Thursday afternoon and continuing into Friday evening.
Environment Canada says that heavy, rapidly accumulating snowfall will begin Thursday evening and persist through Friday morning before tapering off overnight.
Carbon monoxide sends 9 to hospital in unstable condition
Nine individuals were taken to the hospital in unstable condition following a carbon monoxide incident on Tuesday morning.
On March 25 at approximately 9:29 a.m., WFPS paramedics responded to calls at a home on Sharron Bay.
The paramedics' department-issued carbon monoxide alarms alerted them to carbon monoxide in the home. The readings of carbon monoxide measured 300 parts per million (ppm).
The home has been ventilated by firefighters while Manitoba Hydro has responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the carbon monoxide.
CMU's Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition crowns 20th champion
The music school at Canadian Mennonite University marked a significant milestone last week as it presented the 20th edition of the Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition.
The competition was founded in 2006 by Peter Janzen in memory of his wife Verna Mae, who was deeply embedded in the Mennonite music community before her death in 1989.
Country star Blake Shelton releases powerful ballad on faith and forgiveness
Blake Shelton has released a heartfelt new ballad delivering a powerful message of forgiveness and faith.
The song, "Let Him In Anyway," shares the story of a man hoping for divine forgiveness for a lost friend who was just shy of redemption.
"This song is one of the most powerful songs I've ever had the chance to record," said Shelton in a release. "I've never heard a song like this before. When I first listened to it, I knew it was something special. It's an honour to bring it to life."
Worship leader Jon Reddick asks for prayers after wife diagnosed with cancer
Worship leader and songwriter Jon Reddick shared some devastating news Monday.
He announced that his wife, Rebecca, was diagnosed with early-onset colon cancer last week.
"The diagnosis is positive as it was hopefully detected early enough," said Reddick in a post on social media.
Rebecca will undergo surgery today, and Reddick is asking for prayers for her, the team of doctors and staff, as well as their kids, as they navigate this journey.
Winnipeg Public Library searches for its next Maker-in-Residence
The Winnipeg Public Library is looking for its next Maker-in-Residence.
The position is currently being held by Raymond Lyttle, a multidisciplinary artist who has skills in a variety of mediums including ink, ceramics, oil paints and watercolours.
For the next two terms, which run through the fall and winter, they are looking for a Winnipeg-based professional with skills in visual/creative arts, technology, and/or digital media.
The next candidate will also need to be excited to work with people of all backgrounds and abilities.
