The Town of Snow Lake has issued a mandatory evacuation order, requiring all residents to leave by noon on Saturday, June 7, as a massive wildfire threat looms.

The order follows a prior evacuation alert and was announced at noon Friday.

Approximately 1,100 people live in the northern Manitoba community, which is now under threat from three wildfires that have merged into a single, massive blaze. According to the City of Flin Flon, the fire spans an estimated 140 kilometres in length and five kilometres in width.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew promoted his province Friday as the route for a future trade corridor, which could include a pipeline, in order to get goods from Western Canada to overseas markets.

"The politics are (that) something needs to get built in Western Canada. I think everybody understands that," Kinew told a breakfast meeting of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.

Over 100 people came together on Thursday at Central Park in downtown Winnipeg for a Winnipeg for Jesus rally. People testify that it was a night of worship, revival, and healing with an evangelistic outreach also held earlier in the day.

In his second stint with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, Kevin Garcia is living the childhood dream and, through it all, leans on his faith. 

"In Mexico, baseball was everything," he said. "My dad played baseball, my uncle played. It was good. Faith has been a big part of my life since I was a young kid."

Funeral Date: June 9, 2025 
Della Peters, 75, of Steinbach passed away Tuesday, June 3rd at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. She is survived by 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, and 1 sister. She was predeceased by her husband Diedrich, 1 daughter, 1 grandson and 3 brothers. 
A memorial service for Della Peters will be held Monday, June 9th at 11am at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

A wildfire burning close to Flin Flon is closing in on the city. 

Officials say no structures have been lost in Flin Flon or Creighton as of last night. However, winds in the area are now blowing from the south, resulting in heavy smoke and fire moving towards the south side of Flin Flon.

"Fire protection, including sprinklers, has been set up, and fire crews will be working in the Channing area to protect property in the area," said city officials in a post on Facebook.

After a critical review, Manitoba Public Insurance has decided to close off Project Nova.

Providence University College and Theological Seminary is inviting southern Manitoba to help them celebrate 100 years in the community with a concert featuring Zach Williams and opener Jordan St. Cyr. 

"It's amazing to represent 100 years of legacy and 100 years of service to the Manitoba community, the church, and our alumni students," says Kent Anderson, President of Providence in Otterburne, MB. Four families received keys to their new homes Thursday morning.

A key ceremony was held at the Habitat for Humanity Build at the Pandora Avenue West development in Transcona yesterday to celebrate this momentous occasion.

The awards celebrate excellence in British Columbia’s film and television industry, with the couple receiving a nod in the Best Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series.
