Team Saskatchewan A strikes gold at Interprovincial 5 Pin Bowling Championship
Team Saskatchewan A claimed the top spot at the Interprovincial 5 Pin Bowling Championship, taking home gold after a nail-biting series of playoff matches in Saskatoon this past weekend.
The national event, held April 23–27, brought together teams from across the country to compete in one of Canada’s most celebrated bowling championships. The winning Saskatchewan A team, representing the West Saskatchewan Zone, featured bowlers Bridget Berg (Rosetown), Yvonne Markewich (Biggar), Leonard Lapierre (Lashburn), Mat Harrabek (Biggar), and Coach Alvin Anderson (Lashburn).
Local students heading to national skills competition in Regina
Students from our region are heading to nationals after strong performances at the Skills Canada Saskatchewan provincial competition in Saskatoon.
Jaxen Dudley of Eatonia, Walker Lowe of Kyle, Janiah Aguidan, and Jack Unger of the Swift Current Comprehensive High School earned gold medals in their respective categories and will represent Saskatchewan at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) taking place in Regina on May 29 and 30.
Sandhills Boxing Club hosts packed 3rd annual South Saskatchewan Classic
The Sandhills Boxing Club brought the energy to Leader, Saskatchewan, on Saturday night, hosting the 3rd Annual South Saskatchewan Classic at the Leader Community Hall. A full house of 250-275 spectators turned out to watch 12 exciting bouts featuring fighters from 10 clubs across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Clubs from Kopas, Medicine Hat, Newline, Sunshine, Meadow Lake, Calgary, North Battleford, Sandhills, Red Wolf, and Lloydminster all sent athletes to the ring, showcasing talent from Junior A to Elite levels. Food, drinks, and high-intensity matches kept the evening going.
