'Summer of baptisms' brings 2,000 to waters edge

Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, California, Missouri, and even New Zealand held simultaneous baptisms this past weekend alongside former witch Jenny Weaver's Core Group.

"The Lord spoke to me and He literally said, 'Summer of Baptism'," Weaver said in a Facebook video. "I saw us going to different places and doing baptisms."

When Weaver first put out the call, nearly 2,000 people signed up to be baptized.

Northern Manitoba wildfires prompt urgent prayers as residents evacuate

As wildfires rage in northern Manitoba, ministry leaders are encouraging people to pray.

All 500-plus residents of the community of Cranberry Portage were forced to evacuate on Saturday as a fire came within a kilometre of the community. Simonhouse Bible Camp is just 17 kilometres to the southeast, though Simonhouse Lake stands between the fire and camp currently.

62-year-old man being hailed a hero after saving 11-month-old baby from burning home

A 62-year-old Cleveland man is being called a hero after he ran into a burning home to save an 11-month-old baby.

On Monday, May 6, John Stickovich was headed to work when he came across a house fire. 

“The mother was sitting on the lawn with her one baby, and I asked her if she was all right and she said, ‘My baby is still in the house,'” said Stickovich to WJW-TV. “And I was thinking to myself … ‘I have to save the baby.'”

'We can't do what we do without prayer'

Kids camp ministries across Canada are coming together for a day of prayer as they prepare to share the gospel with thousands of children. 

"We estimate about half the kids coming through camps are unchurched," says Kelly Rempel, Marketing Director of One Hope Canada. "They come to a place where they can just put aside those things they're dealing with at home and have a safe place to have fun and experience healthy relationships. And of course, hear about Jesus."

Billy Graham statue going up in U.S. capitol

An upcoming ceremony will be honouring the late evangelist Billy Graham with a statue in Washington, D.C.

On May 16 at 11:00 a.m., Graham's statue will be revealed alongside 200 other American statues. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) announced that Michael W. Smith as well as House Speaker Mike Johnson will attend the ceremony. 

The statue was designed by an artist from Graham's home state of North Carolina. The bronze figure will stand seven feet tall with Graham holding a Bible in one hand. 

Mother's Day: Relating to moms of the Bible

For Marina Hofman, being a mother was something she had dreamed of. However, in 2014, Marina and her husband were in a head-on collision that left both of them with life-altering injuries.

"Although we survived, I had a lot of issues after my surgeries were complete," said Hoffman. "I was depressed all the time and anxious constantly. I had PTSD and a brain injury, in addition to several body injuries."

Bear Grylls shares 'honour' of baptizing Russell Brand

Adventure-seeker and TV host Bear Grylls opens up about the privilege of recently baptizing Russell Brand in the River Thames.

"Me, Bear Grylls, The River Thames and of course, The Holy Spirit," says Brand on Instagram after he was baptized last week. 

On April 26 Brand made it official after publicly declaring on Instagram that he was excited to be baptized. The baptism happened two days later on April 28.
