Many career and academic options showcased at ECS Career Fair

An array of opportunities in schooling and employment was shown off to students during Wednesday's Estevan Comprehensive School Career Fair.

Around 45 associations set up tables in the ECS's cafeteria, showing off potential careers from a wide variety of sectors.

It was the first event like this the school was able to have since 2019, due to the COVID pandemic.

ECS Guidance Counselor Stacy Dutka says that she was a bit worried since it's been a while since the last fair.

Province amending bill to help landowners deal with oil companies

The Government of Saskatchewan announced yesterday it will be amending The Surface Rights Acquisition and Compensation Act to help landowners deal with oil companies.

Specifically, these changes will aid in the recovery of any overdue surface lease compensation owed to them by oil and gas operators.

Bookings and prices ramp up as travelers look to fly south this winter

More people are getting prepared to travel this winter, with flights being booked rapidly.

As the cold weather approaches, many will end up looking to take a vacation to warmer locales in the south.

Since practically all COVID regulations have been lifted, it'll be the first holiday season that will be just as open as it was pre-pandemic.

Travel Advisor Denise Taylor says that the search for warmer air means that those resorts are quickly being filled up.

Student loan plan being enhanced by the province

The Government of Saskatchewan is looking to help address the rising cost of living for student borrowers by enhancing their Repayment Assistance Plan.

On November 1, the Saskatchewan Student Aid Program and Canada Student Financial Assistance Program are introducing enhancements that will improve the affordability of student loan repayment and streamline repayment processes.

STARS grabs first place in international skills competition

Members of STARS’ air medical crew have won the prestigious Association of Air Medical Services’ 2022 Air Medical Transport Simulation Competition. 

Regina-based nurse Kevin Easton and paramedic Chris Fay represented STARS at the annual critical care skills contest on the big stage, held during the AAMS conference in Tampa, Florida last week.

Saskatchewan launching biosimilar initiative to lower drug costs

Saskatchewan's Ministry of Health introduced a biosimilars initiative this morning that they say will ensure Saskatchewan residents have access to high-quality medications at a lower cost.

Biosimilars are versions of drugs that are made when an original biologic drug no longer has patent protection. A biosimilar has the same active ingredients as the original drug but is less expensive.

The province says biosimilars are made to the same standards as original biologic drugs and have met Health Canada’s regulatory requirements for efficacy and safety.
