Radville ER to be closed for weekend

The emergency room at the Radville Marian Health Centre will be closed for the weekend, according to an alert issued by the town office. The closure will take effect at 8 a.m. Friday and go until 8 a.m. Monday. The reason for the closure was cited as a physician shortage. The closure is the fourth due to a physician shortage since the beginning of the year.

Saskatchewan residents are losing a familiar shopping destination with the announcement this week that Peavey Mart will be closing all its stores nationwide, including the local outlet. The closure marks the end of a long-standing retail presence that has been a staple for farmers, home renovators, and pet owners alike.

SECPSD board receives transportation report, bus drivers needed

The most recent meeting of the board of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division saw the bi-annual transportation report delivered by the Manager of Facilities & Transportation, Andy Dobson. He detailed that 4,642 students, up 110 from last school year, are taken to and from school on 157 bus routes. The buses themselves travel a combined 25,638 kilometres a day to accomplish the feat.

Audrey Trombley, the South East Cornerstone Public School Division Board Chair, was recently recognized for her contributions when she was presented with the Saskatchewan School Boards Association’s Award of Distinction. The award is the highest recognition from the SSBA and is awarded every year to a school board member who demonstrates outstanding service and has made signification contributions to enhance education.
