The family of Mrs. Marlene Berg of Swift Current, are saddened to announce her passing on October 6, 2023. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

Laverne Palecek (nee Illerbrun) was born in Gull Lake Saskatchewan on September 8th, 1928. On October 1st she passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side. Laverne was the 2nd eldest of 7 children, losing her only sister as an infant and her mother when she was only 12. Mom lived in a home on the farm with 5 brothers which toughened her up; she was a great ball player and played daily while attending Thring School; she also won the best female athlete in track and field not only in her 12 and under division but also in the senior girl’s division the same year.

The private family funeral service for Mrs. Grace West of Swift Current, Sk. and formerly of Hazlet, Sk. took place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Jay Hinds officiating.

The funeral service for Mrs. Germaine Sherwick of Swift Current, Saskatchewan will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Ferdinand Eusebio officiating.

The interment service for Mrs. Germaine Sherwick will take place at the Mount Pleasant Burial Park in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The funeral service for Mrs. Verna Jones of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Knox United Church in Gull Lake with Rev. Ken Schrag officiating.

The interment service will take place at the Gull Lake Cemetery, Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.

Kobitz, Lorraine Eva (Laura) (Thares)

May 21, 1941 - September 24, 2023

Laura Thares was born in Leader, Saskatchewan to Mike and Aggie Thares on May 21, 1941. 

The celebration of life for Mr. Blaine Heebner of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and formerly of Vanguard, Saskatchewan will take place on Saturday September 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm from St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Patti Sherk officiating.

In memory of Blaine donations can be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

The funeral service for Mrs. Susie Grose will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of the Open Bible in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The internment will take place at the Schanzenfeld Cemetery in Wymark District, Saskatchewan, immediately following the service.

Jennie Theresa Fontaine (nee Grinder) was born on January 22, 1930 at the family farm in Neidpath, Saskatchewan.  She attended Neidpath School, Swift Current Collegiate and Business College.

Jennie worked as a stenographer until her marriage to Victor Fontaine.  They resided in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan for four years and then briefly in Ponteix, Saskatchewan.  In 1955 they moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan where they raised their family.  The past six years of her life were spent in long-term care in Cabri, Saskatchewan.

Ross Abraham Ginter was born on April 7, 1995 at the Swift Current Union Hospital.

Ross leaves to mourn him: daughter Raylen Burkey-Ginter; mother Cheryl Lyne (Travis Nerada); sister Sabre Lyne (Mike Davis) and children Zander, Asher, Declan, and Maci; brother Angus Ginter; brother Max Ginter; sister Ara Lyn (Nick Lawrence) and daughter Everlynn; grandmother Rachel Lyne; auntie Dawn Johnson (Brad Johnson); and numerous cousins.  He was predeceased by his grandfather’s Calvin Lyne and Abe Ginter; grandmother Pat (Baumann) Haley; aunt Tracy Ginter.
