Carl Roy Lawless

Carl Roy Lawless passed away on June 1st, 2023 at the South Calgary Health Campus. Carl was born on July 13th, 1942 in Brockville, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2006. He is survived by his stepson Ron Lightle of Calgary, Alberta and his cousins Lois Keys and Jean Sloan.

Carl served in the military from 1962 to 1982 when he retired in Calgary . After retirement Carl traveled across Canada teaching courses for the Canada Training Group.

Carol Somerville

On Sunday May 7, 2023 Carol Somerville gained her angel wings and passed peacefully with her family by her side. She joins her parents Gordon and Kathleen Somerville and daughter Jo-Ann Gray in heaven where they are celebrating in reunification .

John Edmund “Ed” Zufelt

June 24, 1952 - May 27, 2023

Ed was the first born child to Barbara and John “Jack” Zufelt on June 24, 1952, in Brockville, Ontario. Five more siblings would follow in the next eleven years. The family lived in and around Brockville all their lives. Ed talked frequently about his childhood and how they swam all summer, worked in the garden, rode bikes, and spent time at his Nana’s cottage at Bass Lake and later at their own cottage next door.

Verona Mae MacDonald

Verona was born in Swift Current.  Her parents were Bessie and Hibbert Covey, and stepfather Joseph Swanzey. Verona had six siblings.  Her school years were filled with sports.  She and her sister Alice won several track and softball competitions.  Her love of softball continued with the Gull Lake Royals, and she encouraged her own children to become involved in sport.
