Children at centre of Amber Alert rescued, suspect in custody: RCMP

The Saskatchewan RCMP has confirmed that the children involved in Monday night's Amber Alert, a seven-year-old girl and eight-year-old boy, and their mother have been recovered and their alleged captor, Benjamin Martin Moore, has been arrested.

The recovery and the arrest were made by the Meade County Sherrif's Office in South Dakota, who reported to the Sask. RCMP early Wednesday Morning.

On Tuesday, Police extended the Amber Alert into South Dakota because evidence pointed them in that direction.

Apple Maps begins image collection across Canada - including Estevan

Apple is beginning its ground surveys with vehicles around the world to collect data to improve Apple Maps and support the Look Around feature.

In upcoming weeks, Apple Maps is focusing on surveying towns and cities within Saskatchewan.

On July 4th, a free international flight landed in Regina carrying 230 passengers who fled Ukraine from the Russian war.  

These Ukrainian people came to Canada looking to settle here permanently or to settle here until the war is over.  

Dozens of those passengers came to Moose Jaw and are now working to rebuild their lives.  

Infants are now eligible for Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine

Moderna has announced that the first COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old has been approved. It’s called Moderna Spikevax. 

“Many parents have been waiting to hear this great news,” says SHA COVID-19 Vaccine Lead and SHA ED Primary Care Sheila Anderson. 

Vaccinations have been available for children 5 years and older since November of 2021.  

A Hepatitis A outbreak has been detected in strawberries

There has been an outbreak of Hepatitis A in Saskatchewan from organic strawberries.  

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) released the news on Friday and has since been collaborating with provincial public health partners, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Health Canada to investigate the outbreak. 

The outbreak has been connected to imported organic fresh strawberries bought at Co-op grocery stores between March 5 and March 9.  

There have also been reported cases in Alberta with the connection.

"Huge flaw in the system", Saskatchewan MP comments of the CERB repayment notices

The Canadian Emergency Response Benefit or CERB acted as a lifeline for many Canadians at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Now, residents across Canada, including here in Saskatchewan, have received letters stating that they owe $2,000 for CERB repayment to the CRA.  

According to the CRA, the $2,000 repayment is for an advanced check that people received when the CRA started sending out the payments.
