Wet start to the week - Rainwatchers for October 24th
The first Colorado low of the season has come and gone in Southern Manitoba, and as forecast, it was a rain event rather than the typical snow we expect from those types of systems.
“With the vast majority of Southern Manitoba staying within the warm side of the low, that meant the precipitation we received remained as rainfall,” explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. “There were on again, off again, showers for much for the day, but based on Rainwatcher reports most of the rain arrived before mid-morning Monday.”

A very slow-moving low-pressure system brought multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms to Southern Manitoba Thursday. While most of the precipitation missed Portage, some storms were reported near the city and water spouts, that look very similar to tornados, were spotted over Lake Manitoba.

An upper-level low crossing the province Tuesday drenched some regions over the course of the day, with several rounds of thunderstorms and shower activity.
Detours around Red River Valley now in effect as region prepares for major flooding
Except for local traffic, a portion of Highway 75 is now closed to both commercial and passenger traffic as Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure prepares for flood levels closer to a 2009 event, or possibly higher in some parts of the region.
