MB Hydro works to avoid outages caused by ice-laden lines
Recent foggy conditions have caused problems in some areas of Southern Manitoba more than others.
It's something that Manitoba Hydro has to keep an eye on every year.
The Notre Dame, Somerset, Baldur area has recently been plagued with hydro lines weighed down by ice, swinging in the wind. Those lines are now recovering daily, but Manitoba Hydro Media Relations Officer Bruce Owen says you only have to look back a few years when Portage la Prairie lost power for several days.

Kam Blight honoured for acclamation as AMM President for second term
R.M. of Portage la Prairie Reeve Kam Blight was nominated by the RM Council to run again for a second term as President of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities this year. Blight was acclaimed as president this week.
He shares how he feels about the acclamation.
Newly-acclaimed AMM President says Fall Convention sets great direction
Newly-acclaimed Association of Manitoba Municipalities President Kam Blight says many positives came out of the recent 2022 Fall Convention.
"With the energy that was there, the excitement was very encouraging," explains Blight. "There were close to 800 municipal officials in attendance, and I think there's a lot of hope and optimism going forward, and that's very exciting."
He says there were many new attendees, making 45 per cent of those gathered.

Kam Blight nominated by RM of Portage to consider running for AMM presidency again
The RM of Portage la Prairie council has unanimously nominated Reeve Kam Blight to consider running for the position of President of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) again.
Blight has been president for the last term, noting he feels this has allowed him to have been involved with some great changes that took place through the Association.
