Put A Yid On It! -- Rady JCC launches their inaugural Festival of Yiddish Culture

Starting on Wednesday February 7th and going until Sunday, February 11th, The Rady Jewish Community Centre will be holding a very fun, and engaging festival that puts Yiddish language and culture front and centre. The festival which is called “Put a Yid On it!” Will spotlight Yiddish film, and music, and will also mark the release of a brand new book that pays homage to Yiddish Cinema. And the best part is that you do not need to be able to speak Yiddish to enjoy the festival.

Tappin’ with Knappen: Jazz Winnipeg presents The Knappen Street All-Star Band this Sunday

This Sunday, February 4th at 7:00pm at the Fort Garry Hotel, Jazz Winnipeg will be presenting the two-time Juno nominated Knappen Street All-Star Band.

The Knappen Street All-Star Band are a fantastic mixture of Banjo, Soprano Saxophone, and killer rhythm section that are rooted in the Afro-Cuban Tradition. Adding to the musical texture are some great back-up vocals and some killer dance moves that add in some extra spice to the broth.

Known for their highly entertaining shows they have been hailed from Whitehorse to Winnipeg and from Salmon Arm BC to Halifax.

MRMTA Hosts Their Annual Scholarship Winners Gala

For more than 100 years The Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association (MRMTA) has been holding a yearly Performance Scholarship Competition. Throughout this week (January 29th-February 2nd) MRMTA students of all ages have been competing for a chance to win a cash prize and ultimately perform in the scholarship gala concert that takes place this Sunday, February 4th at 7:30 at Sterling Mennonite Fellowship at 1008 Dakota.

From January 26th to February 4th  The Manitoba Theatre for Young People in collaboration with Brush Theatre is putting on a production that encourages young audiences to use their imagination to create and  explore new worlds and use their inherit inventiveness to solve problems.

Tonight at 7:30 at St. Andrews River Heights United Church the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg (WMC) will be holding their annual scholarship winners recital.

Six marvelous Manitoba musicians have won more than 11 thousand dollars in prizes and tonight they will have the opportunity to show what set them apart from the rest.

Holiday Intimacy: Clear Lake Festival presents Holiday Highlights

This Sunday, December 17th at Brandon University’s Lorne Watson Recital Hall, and on Saturday December 23rd at Broadway Disciples United Church here in Winnipeg, The Clear Lake Festival will present a concert called “Holiday Highlights.”

Featuring music of Liszt, and Tchaikovsky as well as holiday classics such as Joy to the World and What Child is and more, this concert promises to be a concert full of holiday cheer and a great way to embrace this Christmas season.
