Music has the power to bring people together, and that was the heart behind the Hymns of Hope concert hosted by the Douglas Kuhl School of Music (DKSM) at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. The event featured students of all ages performing a variety of pieces, filling the space with harmony and inspiration.

Salem Home is bringing the community together with a Crokinole tournament, and CEO Karin Oliveira is excited about the buzz surrounding the event.

"We want to invite the community to come. Over 30 teams are registered, so chances are you know someone who’s playing. Just come and cheer on the teams or check it out," Oliveira says.

Salem Home is inviting the community to join in on an evening of fun and friendly competition at its upcoming Crokinole Tournament on March 6th at 6:30 PM. While the game itself is sure to bring excitement, the heart of the event is about something much deeper—connecting the community with the residents of Salem Home.

Music lovers in the Pembina Valley will have a chance to experience a heartwarming evening of orchestral performances as the Douglas Kuhl School of Music presents its "Hymns of Hope" recital, Sunday, March 3rd. The concert will take place at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler, with doors opening at 3:30 PM and the performance beginning at 4:00 PM.

The Back 40 Festival’s annual 70s Show, which took place February 21st, brought down the house at the P.W. Enns Centennial Concert Hall, serving as a major fundraiser for the festival’s upcoming outdoor event in June. With a packed audience and a stage full of passionate musicians, the evening was a celebration of live music, community, and collaboration.

The third annual Light Up the Streets fundraiser for Central Station Community Centre proved to be an overwhelming success on Saturday, February 22nd, as the community came together to walk, raise awareness, and support those struggling with poverty and homelessness. With an initial goal set, organizers were thrilled to announce that the event surpassed expectations, raising over $85,000 for Central Station to continue offering vital support and safety to those in need.

As a part of I Love to Read month, Eagle 93.5 FM Morning Show host Jayme Giesbrecht visited Plum Coulee Elementary School, where the grade 2 students had a blast reading a weather forecast to be broadcast on-air. Joining the fun was Pamela Hiebert from Friesens Corporation, who read We Need Everyone by Michael Redhead Champagne, illustrated by Tiff Bartel. Not only did the kids love the story, but every Grade 2 student at Plum Coulee Elementary got to take home their very own copy!

Winkler is set to embrace its country roots as Smitty’s Lounge gears up for a high-energy Country Night this Saturday. With country tunes, themed drinks, and the highlight of the night—a mechanical bull—this event promises excitement for all.

A new spin on Winkler’s nightlife

Angelina Fehr, owner of Smitty’s Lounge in Winkler shares the inspiration behind the event, which started as an idea from Aiden Friesen.

Winkler Arts and Culture (WAC) is inviting trivia enthusiasts to test their knowledge at the first-ever Trivia Night Fundraiser, happening Friday February 21st at 7:00 PM at their gallery space, located at 547 Park St., Winkler.

For just $50 per team (four to six players), participants can enjoy a night of brain-teasing questions while supporting local arts programming. Teams can register online at winklerarts.com, call the gallery, or sign up in person.
