Officer-involved shooting in Niverville early Wednesday morning

There is a large police presence in Niverville following an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning.

RCMP say one man is dead, one female is in custody and one male fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Manitoba RCMP and Winnipeg police have been at the scene on Drovers Run in Niverville since 3 a.m. As a result, the street has been shut down and is expected to remain closed for most of the day.

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to avoid the area.

UPDATED - RCMP confirm Niverville suspect has fled to Saskatchewan

A manhunt is underway in Saskatchewan connected to a deadly shooting Wednesday morning in Niverville.

According to Manitoba RCMP, an adult male is dead in relation to an officer-involved shooting. It happened sometime before 3 am in front of the Shell gas station and Tim Hortons restaurant. 

There is a large police presence in the area of Drovers Run in Niverville. Police say that area will be blocked off for a large portion of the day.

For a second time this series, the Steinbach Pistons tied the game late, eventually winning in double overtime, taking a 3-0 series stranglehold on the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Canadian Blood Services puts call out for donors

With the need for blood donations continuing to go up, the amount of donations coming in is trending in the opposite direction and that needs to change quickly, according to Canadian Blood Services.

"1 out of 2 Canadians are eligible to donate blood but, only 1 in 84 actually does donate," says Community Development Manager Brett Lawrence. "It's a very small amount of people holding up Canada's blood supply."
