Revenue surplus means lower debt - Government of Saskatchewan
Finance Minister Donna Harpauer says that Saskatchewan’s finances closed out the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year strong. $1.5 billion of its $1.58 billion surplus went into reducing the provincial operating debt, which will realize a saving of $66 million annually in interest.
The government release states that revenue increases largely due to high oil and potash prices as well as higher Corporation Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST) revenue in 2022-23.

On Monday night, at a City of Moose Jaw council meeting, the 2022 Municipal Public Accounts were presented.
The accounts included employee wages for the City of Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw Fire Department, Moose Jaw Police Service, and the Mayor and Council.

It's time to be bear aware
The Government of Saskatchewan is reminding residents that it is that time of the year to be bear aware.
Black bears can be found throughout the province, and are most commonly spotted in northern Saskatchewan forests, but their range extends southward into the aspen parkland and into other areas including the Touchwood Hills, the Qu'Appelle Valley, and the South Saskatchewan River Valley.
World Para Ice Hockey Championships - Quarter-Finals Results
Czechia is moving on to the semifinals at the World Para Ice Hockey Championship at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
Czechia picked up a 4-0 win over Italy in the first quarter-final on Friday afternoon. After a scoreless first period, Czechia scored three in the second and one in the third.
Scoring for Czechia was Zdenek Habl, Pavel Kubes, Michal Geier and Radek Zelinka.

Canada shut out by Team USA at World Para Ice Hockey Championships: Day Four Results
Team Canada came up short Wednesday night against Team USA, falling by a score of 3-0.
The Americans finished round robin play on top of Group A with a 3-0 record, while Canada finished in second with a 2-1 record.
Brody Roybal opened the scoring for the U.S. at 9:49 of the second period beating Canadian netminder Dominic Larocque. Jack Wallace would add a power play marker at 11:20 of the third. Travis Dodson would cap off the scoring with an empty net goal with 1:31 remaining in the contest.
USA goalie Jen Lee made 9 saves for the shutout.
World Para Ice Hockey Championships - Day Three Results
Italy picked up their first win in Group B at the 2023 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, defeating Germany 1-0 in a shootout this morning at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
Neither team got on the board after regulation time as the score was tied 0-0 after three periods of play. Italy’s Nils Larch and Christoph Depaoli scored in the shootout for the win.

Team USA is off to a hot start at the 2023 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, outscoring Czechia 7-1 this afternoon in Group A action at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
Travis Dodson had the hat trick for the Americans, while Kevin McKee added three assists.
Filip Vesely had the lone goal for Team Czechia.
Team USA is off to a 1-0 start, while Team Czechia falls to 1-1.
Up next for the Americans is a matchup with Korea Tuesday afternoon, while Czechia faces off against Canada Tuesday night.
