Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, November 19

The Moose Jaw Warriors will be facing off against the Saskatoon Blades at the Moose Jaw Events Centre this Thursday.

The Winmar AAA Warriors find themselves near the top of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League after a pair of wins over the Kinsmen Maulers in Yorkton on the weekend. They won both games by scores of 7-1. The Winmar Warriors now 12-2-11 on the season and just two points behind the Regina Pat Canadians and it's those two teams going head-to-head at the Moose Jaw Events Centre this coming Saturday - game time 1:30. 

Sports Round-Up: Monday, November 18

While the Moose Jaw Warriors took the weekend off, general manager Jason Ripplinger was working overtime, making a number of trades.

The team announced yesterday that defenceman Kalem Parker was traded to the Calgary Hitmen for 15-year-old forward Nathan Gardiner, as well as three draft picks. The Warriors announced Friday the acquisition of 18-year-old defenceman Ryder Ellis and two draft picks from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for 19-year-old defenceman Vojtech Port. The Warriors also added overage defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk.

Timmy's announces Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign to benefit Hunger in Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw’s three local Tim Horton’s franchises will donate the proceeds of their annual Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign to support the work of non-profit Hunger in Moose Jaw from Nov. 18 to 24. 

Each cookie will cost $1.50, and purchases of six or more cookies will be tax-free. The proceeds will be split 50-50 between Hunger in Moose Jaw and the Tim Horton’s Foundation. 

Moose Jaw North MLA Tim McLeod reacts to new cabinet position

Moose Jaw North MLA Tim McLeod shared his thoughts following his being named to the provincial government’s cabinet with a new portfolio.  

McLeod previously served as the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health, the Provincial Secretary and Legislative Secretary to the Premier. 

He will now serve as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Corrections, and Policing in the Saskatchewan Party’s new cabinet. 

Annual Remembrance Day Service held at the MJEC

It was a full Moose Jaw Events Centre this morning for the 105th annual Remembrance Day Service. 

Civilians, cadets, and service members filled the stands to take part in the ceremony and honour those who have laid down their lives for Canada. 

The service was officiated by Reverend Doug Shepherd, with the music performed by the Vanier Collegiate Choir and Band.  

Sports Round-Up: Friday, November 8

It's game night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre as the Warriors host the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Tomorrow, the team heads to Medicine Hat to play the Tigers - puck drop for that game is 8. As always, you can catch all the action on Country 100 with James Gallo.

The Winmar AAA Warriors have a pair of home games this weekend against the Warman Wildcats. Puck drop tomorrow is 7, with a matinee on Sunday starting at 1:30. 

Senior Girls volleyball semi-final last night, Vanier beat Briercrest 3 sets to none, and Cornerstone beat Peacock 3 sets to none. 

UPDATE: Main St N reopened after rollover results in one death

UPDATE: Police say the rollover, which happened at around 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, has resulted in fatal injuries for one occupant, with two others transported to hospital. 

One person remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and another was released after being treated for minor injuries. 

Sports Round-Up: Thursday, November 7

The Moose Jaw Warriors have one more day of practice, preparing for back-to-back games tomorrow and Saturday nights. The Lethbridge Hurricanes are in Moose Jaw tomorrow with the Warriors on the road Saturday to play the Tigers in Medicine Hat.

Senior Boys volleyball semi-finals tonight, it’s Cornerstone against Central and Peacock plays Vanier.

Senior Girls volleyball semi-finals also happening tonight, with a matchup between Briercrest and Vanier, and it’s Peacock against Cornerstone. 

NBA last night, the Toronto Raptors fell 122-107 to the Sacramento Kings.

The Moose Jaw Warriors return to the Hangar this Friday night, where they’ll face the Lethbridge Hurricanes. 

Senior Boys volleyball quarterfinals last night, Cornerstone beat Briercrest 3 sets to none.

Senior Girls volleyball quarterfinals, Cornerstone beat Notre Dame 3 sets to none, and it was Peacock over Central 3 sets to 2. 

NHL last night, the Senators fell 5-1 against the Sabres, the Maple Leafs shutout the Bruins 4-0, the Flames took a 3-2 overtime win against the Canadiens, the Jets shutout Utah 3-0, and the Canucks scored a 5-1 win over the Ducks.
