Red is approx 3 years old, retriever mix, who lived as a resident stray in the northern part of Sask and was rescued by a group and transfer to us.

He was continually beat up by the dogs around him and is so resilient and loves everyone still!

He is wonderful with kids, and dogs.

Red is crate trained, housetrained, he’s a confident and friendly boy.

He is looking for a home that is medium activity, and secure for him to feel safe and loved.

Orca is a collie mix, approx one year old, spayed and vaccinated.

She is easy going with her humans and super focused. So sweet and gentle, very well trained already in her young and rocky start to life.

Orca would make an amazing companion and acreage/farm dog. She’s young and super trainable!

She loves herding, agility and being apart of the family.

Big Blanche is a funny girl who had a tough life before coming to happy cat. She was barely surviving off of garbage and had been potentially harmed by people trying to keep her away. This has led Blanche to have moments where she is leading in fear and will scratch or bite you. One thing we have noticed is that she loves kids...she will come out of her shark bed specifically to see children and has yet to show signs of aggression to a child. Blanche is on a diet and requires this along with daily exercise to get her looking better.

A proposed bill from Alberta's provincial government would change the date of provincial election, and introduce a system for the Province to take control of emergency response efforts.

Premier Danielle Smith was joined by several provincial ministers and officials in announcing the Emergency Statutes Amendment Act, 2024 (Bill 21), on May 9.

The premier explained that the intention of the new bill is to give the province the ability to act quickly during situations where time is of the essence.

A tentative settlement has been proposed in the Calgary Stampede Young Canadians lawsuit.

The class-action lawsuit was filed over the Calgary Stampede Foundation having allegedly allowed the sexual abuse of young boys who were students of the Young Canadians School of Performing Arts

For decades, youths from in and around Calgary have performed with the Young Canadians at the Calgary Stampede Grandstand each year.

In 2018, former staffer Phillip Heerema pled guilty to charges related to the sexual abuse of young boys during his time with the organization.

A local mother is sharing her concern and disappointment with signs posted near an Okotoks high school.

The sandwich board, displayed on the driveway of a residence across from the school, bear messages insulting and criticizing teachers, with one side "free new parking in front of small doors, can't fix stupid," with the other side calling for teachers to be "jailed for putting union signs in our school windows."

One local parent of children who attend the school, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the signs are only doing harm, and not just to teachers.

With the next municipal election being held next year, the Town of Okotoks is getting some housekeeping items taken care of.

At their latest meeting, town council approved an amendment to the Election Procedures Bylaw.

Legislative Policy Services Manager Cathy Duplessis explained that a review of Bylaw 10-24 found that some changes were in order when it came to by-elections.

Earlier this week, Pound Rescue in Okotoks announced the passing of their founder, Dr. Gabriele Barrie.

An outspoken animal advocate, Barrie founded the organization in 1994 with a philosophy of making every possible effort to save the lives of animals in need.

Compassion was always the core of Barrie's work. Pound Rescue's Facebook page contains nine years' worth of posts archiving the stories of animals taken in, often abandoned, sick, or injured, with the intention of giving them a better life in a loving home.
