In the 50 years since it first began serving southeast Manitoba with cattle sales, Grunthal Livestock Auction Mart has seen a whole lot of change – and the steadfast support of the surrounding community. 

“The way we market livestock is not the way it was done even 25 years ago,” says Brad Kehler, who joined the auction mart in 2016. “We’ve had a lot of changes over the years, but we’re always trying to keep on the cutting edge of things in the industry. It’s been great.”

The Grunthal Motocross (GMX) Race Weekend is quickly approaching, an event the team, riders, and fans are all highly anticipating. 

The races start at 8:30am on Sunday, August 25 at the Grunthal Motocross track, with open practice for the riders on Saturday, August 24 from 10 to 3. 

The races will be divided into two rounds – one in the morning and one in the afternoon – with riders from various classes hitting the track. A 1-hour intermission will take place around noon, where spectators can grab a meal from the two food trucks on site. 

The laces are almost tied, the sticks are almost taped and the 2024-25 hockey season is almost here. There’s a lot of excitement, and many families have already completed registration – which is open – for kids looking forward to playing minor hockey in Steinbach.
