Poilievre wants Carney to cash out blind trust, says ethics screens insufficient

The Conservatives want Prime Minister Mark Carney to sell all the assets in his blind trust to avoid any possible conflicts of interest.

Carney set up the blind trust after he was sworn in as prime minister in March and the details of how it works were made public on Friday.

They show that the prime minister has set up screens to avoid potential conflicts related to his previous interests in Brookfield Asset Management, Brookfield Corporation and Stripe Inc.

But Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre believes that's not enough.

We Weep and Pray, Grow and Learn

Proverbs 20:24

Tests are never wasted.

God never says, "Oops, made a mistake on that one. I shouldn't have given you that. I meant that for Frank. Sorry, Bob."

It's as if the Lord has our name on specific trials. They are specifically designed for us, arranged with our weaknesses and our immaturity in mind. He bears down and doesn't let up.

And we groan and we hurt and we weep and we pray and we grow and we learn. Through it all we learn to depend upon His Word...

The common response to trials is resistance, if not outright resentment.

God’s ‘Yes’ echoes in new collab from Steven Malcolm, for KING & COUNTRY, and KB

Steven Malcolm has done it again, taking Christian hip-hop and combining it with an anthemic worship song feel with his tune "Yes."

"God took a fatherless kid who, because of where I came from and what I had been through, always felt a sense of unworthiness," shares Steven Malcolm. "You’re telling me I’m worthy to be saved?! YES! God responded with ‘yes.’"

Malcolm called on a few friends to join him, featuring Christian rapper KB, as well as the CCM band for KING & COUNTRY.

'Pornography is a problem': Smith defends new rules for Alberta school libraries

Alberta's premier says "pornography is a problem for young adults" in remarks defending her government's move to remove sexually explicit content from school library shelves this fall.

Danielle Smith was responding to criticism received via text on her provincewide phone-in radio program on Saturday that a lack of education funding and overcrowded classrooms were more important issues than library content.

Anand says Indo-Pacific strategy will have economic focus but maintain values

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says the economy is becoming the primary focus of Canada's relationships in the Indo-Pacific — a shift that appears linked to Canada's recent moves to overcome its security dispute with India.

Anand was in Japan and Malaysia this week for her first trip to the region since taking over as foreign minister in May. Her message coming out of that trip was that Canada's foreign policy is shifting — though not abandoning — the priorities set by the previous Liberal government of former prime minister Justin Trudeau.

Glorify God to the Maximum

Psalm 108:3

By making us in His image, God gave us capacities not given to other forms of life.

Ideally, He made us to know Him, to love Him, and to obey Him. He did not put rings in our noses that He might pull us around like oxen...

No, He gave us freedom to make choices. By His grace we are equipped to understand His plan because we have a mind with which we can know Him.

We are also free to love and adore Him because we have emotions. He takes pleasure in our affection and devotion.

Alberta's transgender ban in women's sports exempts visiting out-of-province athletes

Alberta is rolling out new regulations this fall banning transgender athletes from playing women’s sports, but the province will still welcome out-of-province transgender competitors.

Tourism and Sport Minister Andrew Boitchenko said the discrepancy is out of his hands.

“We don't have authority to regulate athletes from different jurisdictions,” he said in an interview.

In a followup statement, ministry spokeswoman Vanessa Gomez added it's due to outside sporting organizations being bound by out-of-province or international guidelines.
