Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has written to the leader of the New Democrats, urging him to force an election this fall.
Poilievre's letter to Jagmeet Singh says the NDP does not have a mandate from voters to keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in power for another year.
He's urging Singh to vote non-confidence in the government when the House of Commons resumes in September.
The NDP entered a supply and confidence deal with the Liberals in 2022, agreeing to keep the minority government in power until 2025 in exchange for movement on key priorities.

Traffic lights impacted by stormy weather Thursday morning
It could be a slow and difficult drive for motorists in Winnipeg on Thursday morning.
Several intersections throughout the city have either traffic signal lights flashing red in all directions, or no lights at all. Motorists are reminded to treat such intersections as all-way stops unless police are on scene directing traffic.
As of 6:50 a.m., a power outage in Transcona has impacted at least two intersections along Plessis Road, including at Kildare Avenue and Ravelston Avenue West.
Lights are also out completely at King Edward and Logan Avenue.

Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of a fire that started at a Glenelm home and quickly spread to two neighbouring homes.
The City of Winnipeg says in a release that the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a fire that involved two homes on Cobourg Avenue around 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found a two-storey house engulfed in flames with the fire extending to a neighbouring one-and-a-half storey house and another two-storey house. A garage at the rear of the property also had fire extension.

The biggest threat with this thunderstorm is strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain that could flood certain areas.

A serial killer has been formally sentenced to four concurrent life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years in the slayings of four Indigenous women in Winnipeg.
Jeremy Skibicki showed no emotion as the sentence was handed down Wednesday.
When asked by Court of King's Bench Justice Glenn Joyal if he had anything to say, Skibicki replied, “No.”
