A long-time resident of Winkler has decided to seek the nomination as the next Conservative Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar.

Don Cruickshank has lived in Winkler for some 18 years, where he met his wife and is raising a young family.

The annual report for the Winkler Fire Department (WFD) shows city firefighters responded to 220 emergency calls in 2022, an overall increase 
of 27% from the previous year.

Fire Chief Richard Paetzold says it was a record year. 

After a stint as gallery host for Winkler Arts and Culture, (WAC) Gwen Freeheart has now taken on the role of administrative assistant, on the way to becoming the center's next director.

The announcement was made at the organization's annual general meeting on June 21st.

WAC Board Vice President, Jenessa Kehler says they're very excited to work with Gwen. She says they've all seen what Gwen is capable of and their passion for creating a space.

After thirteen years of classes, textbooks and exams, Dmitrij Polishuk says the last four years of secondary schooling are among his favourite. 

June 23 is Graduation Day for grade twelve students at Winkler's Garden Valley Collegiate (GVC) and they chose Polishuk as their valedictorian.
