P.D.R.A racing series returns to Flatlanders Speedway this weekend
Racing is back this weekend, August 16-17 just west of Kindersley at Flatlanders Speedway. Saturday's races start at 6:00 PM, Sunday at 1:00 PM, with more than just the regular competitors set to join the field.
The Prairie Dirt Racing Association will be part of the action, with the kidmod division, hobbystocks, streetstocks, and modifieds. Joining that will be the regular Flatlanders classes of run your junk, trucks, mini-sprints, and legends with points up for grabs in both competitions.
Kyle RCMP deal with mischief, farmyard fire and theft
Kyle RCMP handled several varied calls last week, including a farmyard fire, reports of mischief, and a theft under $5,000.
The week began Aug. 9 with a mischief complaint in Kyle stemming from an incident two days earlier. Later that evening, members responded to a well-being check in the RM of Marriott.
On Aug. 11, RCMP were called to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 near Harris. One driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Officers also handled two driving complaints near Rosetown the same day, issuing a verbal warning in one case.
Fifty years of women leading and learning in Cadets Canada

Alberta's Crop Diversification Centres will see upgrades
This week, Alberta farmers learned more about the $5.2 million in funding planned for the province's two crop diversification centres.
Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation RJ Sigurdson says the province's farmers directly benefit from the work being done at CDC North near Edmonton, and CDC South near Brooks.
The funding supports upgrades and replacements to greenhouses, labs, and administrative buildings at both sites, as well as research essentials such as seed, fertilizer, and pesticides.
