Challen Littlechief, late of Calgary, Alberta passed away suddenly from a workplace accident on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the age of 28 years.
The Wake will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the White Bear First Nations Community Hall and the Traditional Feast & Funeral Service will commence on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:30a.m.
13U AAA Brewers finish in third place at weekend provincials
The 13U AAA Estevan Brewers grasped a podium finish at provincials over the weekend as they played in Saskatoon.
The team placed 3rd out of 16 teams from across the province at Tier 1 Provincials, settling at a 3-1 record.

Keith Daae reflects on representing Saskatchewan at the Canada Cup
Keith Daae of southeast Saskatchewan recently represented Team Saskatchewan at the prestigious Canada Cup, a national tournament that brings together some of the top volleyball talent from across the country. Daae was part of the U17 Green Selects team, which earned bronze at the tournament and marked a proud moment in his volleyball journey.
Daae earned his spot on the team after attending the Sask. Selects camp, which invites only 25 to 30 players each year. He didn’t make the final roster in 2023, but this year, he made the cut and took full advantage of the opportunity.
Living Skies lights up Moosomin with record crowds and rave reviews
The Living Skies Come Alive fireworks competition returned in full force this past weekend, drawing thousands of visitors to Moosomin and District Regional Park for two nights of live music, fireworks and community celebration.
Saturday night featured a show by Saskatchewan-based fireworks producers, while Alberta’s team took the spotlight on Sunday and ultimately won the main award. Saskatchewan finished as the runner-up.

Estevan Minor Football’s U14 Lions Oilers are gearing up for a fresh season with a nearly brand-new roster, but Head Coach Christian Pfeifer says the team’s culture remains unchanged.

Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation Powwow brings big energy and bigger crowds to Kisbey area
The sound of drums, the swirl of regalia, and the sense of community all came together over the weekend just outside of Kisbey, as Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation hosted its annual competition powwow at the 7 Lakota grounds.
The gathering welcomed hundreds of dancers and visitors from across Canada and the United States, turning the quiet grounds into a celebration of culture, language, and unity.
“This was our biggest turnout yet,” said event organizer Kathleen McArthur. “We had almost 200 dancers in the grand entry alone, and it stretched across three full songs.”
Prime Minister Mark Carney announces support measures for softwood lumber industry
The federal government is setting up a safety net of loans, product-development grants and market diversification plans for Canada’s softwood lumber industry in an effort to shield it from the worst of American duties and fees.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the plan Tuesday, promising $700 million in loan guarantees to address what he called "immediate pressures" and $500 million for long-term supports to help companies diversify export markets and develop their products.
Carney also promised that future projects will "prioritize" Canadian lumber.
