Estevan RCMP respond to Midale rollover which killed 22 cattle, injured driver
The Estevan RCMP reported a rollover on Highway 39 near Midale which left several cattle dead and a driver injured.
On September 21 at around 8 a.m., Estevan RCMP received that report of a semi rollover with officers immediately responding.
The driver of the semi was then taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
The driver was hauling 100 cattle with the trailer, of which 22 died due to the collision. The RCMP detachment did engage in veterinary care for the cattle.
Small business, big hearts: Siblings support Estevan Humane Society
Lilah and Watson Teixeira local sibling pair put their love for animals into action, raising over $100 for the Estevan Humane Society through a heartwarming initiative.
“We raised a lot of money, and we got them a scratching post and some toys for the kitties,” said Leila proudly sharing their efforts.
The dynamic duo created candy bags and sold juice boxes to raise the funds. Their motivation was simple: a love for the animals at the Humane Society and a desire to make a difference.
A section of George Street will be closed today for sewer replacement
Estevan residents will experience a road closure today at the 900 block of George Street, including the north sidewalk.
The area will be closed throughout the day today as the crew works on a sewer replacement.
The public is asked to avoid the area until work is completed.
Geography gives Estevan the edge in soaking up sunshine
Estevan has a bit more sunshine left before winter comes and cuts those hours drastically, with the area usually getting plenty of light over the year.
That was the case this year as well, which included plenty of sunny weather especially due to the summer seeing below-average rain.
