Several local motocross riders were up against competitors from across the province and Manitoba over the weekend.

The Swift Current Motocross Association sent a trio of riders to Virden, Manitoba, for Round 11 of the Saskatchewan Motocross Association's Provincial Championship Series.

Swift Current's Adairia Dickie secured second place overall in the Ladies B division, in addition to 20th in the Superminis.

Rorie Dickie took sixth in the plus 40 class, as well as seventh place in the vet junior division. 

Members of the Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce were on hand last week to honour a local business with the SCBEX Hall of Fame Award.

Smart Flowers has been in business for 50 years, and owner Poppy Parsons was extremely grateful to receive this recognition.

"Celebrating 50 years this year was a huge accomplishment, to carry on that legacy that Jim Smart started back in 1975," said Parsons. "And to be recognized by community leaders, I'm just blown away and truly honoured."

Surrounded by her white hat-clad members of the "Kingdom of Canada" group, the self-proclaimed "Queen of Canada" emerged from the Swift Current Provincial Court, saying she was "doing well" and thanking her supporters.

In front of a packed courtroom on Monday morning, Judge Alan Jacobson imposed several conditions.

Didulo must remain at a specified address in Regina at all times unless she obtains permission from her parole officer.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP say that the missing individual has been located.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP are advising folks of a missing person and are seeking the public's assistance. 

36-year-old Fatou Toure was reported missing on September 6 and was last seen around 12:45 a.m. on August 29 at the Travelodge in Swift Current, and may have been carrying a black garbage bag at the time she was last seen.

The Celebration of Life of the late Myrna Pearson of Shaunavon will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m. from Christ the King Parish Hall in Shaunavon.

Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon is in charge of the arrangements.

The Center is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2025, and the Chamber of Commerce wanted to recognize the Center as a leader in the non-profit space and a consistent showcase of the importance of the nonprofit community in Swift Current.
