Bernhard “Ben” Falk, 76, of Altona passed away Saturday, October 26th at Altona Memorial Health Centre. He is survived by 2 sisters, 3 brothers and their families, He was predeceased by his parents. 
A private family memorial service for Bernhard “Ben” Falk will be held. 
Viewing will be held at Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona Friday, November 1st from 2 to 8pm. Family may be present from 6 to 8pm. 
Donations may be made to The Community Exchange, Altona.

The Manitoba Beef and Forage Conference is set to take place Wednesday at the William Glesby Centre in Portage La Prairie, where a full range of Agri business booths will be on hand for producers across the prairies to explore. 

The conference is a popular event to hear from local producers and industry experts across the region discussing the application of research on the farm.  Forage and livestock specialist Shawn Cabak is one of the speakers and notes the venue will be full of agribusiness booths for producers to visit. 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says its investigation into an Ontario facility processing plant-based milk found it was not adhering to Health Canada’s policies on listeria prevention.

The facility is still shut down after a listeria outbreak last summer linked to the plant infected at least 20 people in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Alberta and led to three deaths.

Addison Kartusch of the St. Charles Country Club and Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend are Golf Manitoba's 2024 Female & Male Amateur Golfers of the Year. Kartusch won the Match Play Championship, the Provincial Junior Championship and the Provincial Women’s Amateur Championship. The 18-year-old from Winnipeg, who is into her freshmen year at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, also finished T3 at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship and T48 at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison has confirmed a report that Canada is alleging an Indian cabinet minister and close adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered intelligence-gathering operations targeting Canadians.

The Washington Post first reported that Canadian officials alleged Indian Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah was behind a campaign of violence and intimidation targeting Sikh separatists in Canada.

Morrison told MPs at the national security committee Tuesday that he was the one who confirmed Shah's name to that newspaper.

Former Member of Parliament Robert "Bob" Sopuck was known as a tireless advocate for rural communities and a valued friend and mentor. he passed away on Wednesday, October 23, at his residence near Sandy Lake. 

Sopuck served as MP for Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa from 2010 to 2019, in representation of rural Manitobans with dedication and 

Portage-Lisgar MP Branden Leslie was given the privilege Monday in the House of Commons to honour the man whom he called his former boss, mentor, and friend. 

The Manitoba Habitat Conservancy (MHC) is celebrating a partnership that truly demonstrates the benefits of farm to table connections, and how those can lead to improved environmental outcomes.

It started with a $72,300 contribution from Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (MBLL) to the Conservancy's Grassland Stewardship Agreements project. That helped cover the infrastructure costs of several miles of fencing for Souris area Ritchie Bison Owner-Operators Jim and Bridie Ritchie and neighbour Brian Powell.

The Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) wrapped up their inaugural cow-calf survey and is sharing some of the results with people around the country.

The BCRC, funded thanks to check-offs from cattle sales in Canada, put on the survey to find how producers are working with their cattle and what practices could be adopted in the future.
