Sports Update - Sunday, September 29th
The Southwest Cougars are 0-2 to start the 2024-25 Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League season. The Cougars fell 4-2 to the Pembina Valley Hawks Saturday in Morden. Bryan Laing and Kole Beard did the goal scoring for Southwest. Brody Cameron made 35 saves. The Cougars play their home opener Wednesday against the Yellowhead Chiefs in Souris.

Peter G. Unrau, 98, of Winkler formerly of Morris, passed away Wednesday, September 25th at Boundary Trails Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Mary, 3 daughters 1 son, 2 sisters, 1 brother and their family. He was predeceased by 1 sister and 1 brother.
The funeral service for Peter G. Unrau will be held Monday, September 30th 2pm at Kronsweide Sommerfeld Church with burial at Kronsweide Sommerfeld Church Cemetery.

Boissevain Unveils New Bison Mural: A Celebration of Métis Culture and Community
Friday morning marked the official unveiling of the newest addition to Boissevain's outdoor art gallery. Earlier this summer the beautiful rendition of a bison was painted on the northern exterior wall of the Irvin Goodon Wildlife Museum by mural artist Jayde Goodon, who has roots to the Boissevain area and the Turtle Mountains.
The project was a collaborative effort between the Manitoba Métis Federation Cherry Creek and the Turtle Mountain Métis Locals and the Boissevain Arts Council.
Weather Challenges and Triumphs: CATPM’s Eventful Summer of Air Shows and Displays
The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) had a full and informative summer with sharing their many displays, artifacts and vintage aircraft and vehicles dating back to the Second World War to their many visitors from across North America and beyond those borders. With that they were able to participate in a number of different events and activities, including the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Arrest Warrant – Failure to Attend Court
On September 26th at 10:30AM police conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Braecrest Drive. A 26-year-old female in the vehicle had an unendorsed warrant for Failure to Attend Court. She was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on September 27th, 2024.

Sports Update - Saturday, September 28th
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have clinched a playoff spot. The Bombers, who started the season 0-4, won their seventh straight game 55-27 over the Edmonton Elks. Zach Collaros threw for 432 yards and a career high six touchdown passes. Kenny Lawler caught eight passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Winnipeg had a 34-6 lead at halftime. The Blue Bombers are in first place in the CFL’s West Division with a 9-6 record. Winnipeg’s next game is Friday, October 4th against the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton. The Bombers will clinch first place and a bye the West final with a win over the Tabbies.

No deal after two days of negotiating in the Vancouver grain workers strike
Negotiations to end a strike by grain terminal workers in Metro Vancouver have stalled, with the employers' association saying it's "disappointed" with the results of two days of talks.
A statement from the Western Grain Elevator Association says the employer bargaining unit had increased its offer to settle "outstanding issues," but that was rejected.
