Helen Harder, 94, of Winkler formerly of Plum Coulee passed away Monday, September 23rd at Salem Home. She is survived by 3 grandsons and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband John and 1 son.
Cremation has taken place.
A private family graveside service for Helen Harder will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Ethan Guthrie scored twice and Nick Trakakis made 29 saves in the Virden Oil Capitals 5-4 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Tuesday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Brett Sabel, Campbell Epp and Marshall Light also scored for the Caps who picked up their first win after of the season losing twice to the Dauphin Kings on the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's opening weekend.
Living juvenile zebra mussels found in Clear Lake
Parks Canada staff have found multiple living juvenile zebra mussels in Clear Lake. These invasive mussels were found last week Thursday and Friday, September 19- 20.

Representatives from Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Province of Manitoba’s aquatic invasive species program have visually confirmed the finding to be zebra mussels.
Empowering Communities: Fall Grant Applications Open October 1st
In October of 2023, Sunrise Credit Union launched their Building Communities Grant Program where 4 organizations received funding in four different communities.
The Ledo Lake Eco Park in Erickson received $25,000, Swan Lake First Nations Pow Wow received $5,000, Oak Lake Care Centre $10,000 and Prairie Skills Centre Deloraine $10,000.
Applications for the fall intake is being accepted beginning October 1st.
Killarney's own True Crime Capture coming to the Stage, the Street, the Library
Local drama group, The Storytellers, will be sharing the story of international serial killer, Earle Leonard Nelson, on stage at Killarney’s United Church the first weekend in October, this in collaboration with the local library and the Killarney and area Arts Council.
Arts Council Administrator, Giselle Beaupre, says the '1927 Manhunt for the Gorilla Man Strangler' was written by Betty Winterhalt who grew up in Killarney but now lives in Winnipeg. Winterhalt read the true crime story of Earle Nelson from a book written by fellow Winnipegger, Alvin Esau.
First year student enrolment at CMU up nearly 40% year over year
Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) in Winnipeg has experienced a substantial uptick in year over year enrolment. President Cheryl Pauls says numbers are up ten per cent across undergraduate and graduate programs, with particularly strong enrolments from a first-year students perspective. There are several other metrics also showing a strong rebound this school year.
Fall harvest management is key to avoid winterkill in alfalfa
Fall is a critical period when it comes to managing winter hardiness or winterkill in alfalfa stands.
Range Management Specialist Trevor Lennox says alfalfa is thought of as queen of the forages.
"It's a very important forage, as a result, it's important to keep the stand as productive as possible."
He points out that when an alfalfa plant is cut, the initial regrowth that follows is produced from root reserves, as new leaves are developed, they begin to manufacture their own energy for growth.

CJRB's 5th Meals in the Field winner, Gordon and Alice Urquhart, enjoyed a full feast at the Urquhart farm north of Killarney, compliments to Boundary Co-op, Killarney. Gordon's name was pulled at sponsor, Killarney Tire's Meals in the Field bucket.
Gordon and Alice, with their son Adam, were joined by neighbors and friends today at noon, filling up before getting back into the canola.
Brandon Police - Sept 24th Report
Assault Causing Bodily Harm
On September 10th it was reported three male inmates (Ages 29, 22, 26) assaulted a 40-year-old inmate male victim at Brandon Correctional Centre. Victim sustained a broken nose and ear cartilage.
On September 23rd the three suspects were charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
