Go Green wraps up in Swift Current having grilled get together in Market Square

Grilling burgers as an offering of thanks for help with yard work is a tradition that continues to be honoured by Stark and Marsh.

Go Green recently wrapped up another year in Swift Current, and the local accounting firm thanked all the volunteers who helped keep Swift Current's green spaces looking pristine with free burgers on Friday.

All told, the event raised $800, for the local SPCA as non-Go Green members paid $10 per meal.

Heading up the year-end volunteer appreciation grilling event was Ashley LaFontaine, marketing coordinator for Stark and Marsh.

Santa's little helpers are already getting ready for the Santa Claus Parade

Santa Claus is coming to town... on Friday, December 6.

Santa's little helpers are already scurrying around getting ready for the 39th annual Santa Claus Parade in High River.

The theme this year is 'Celebrating Santa's Helpers'.

Registration is already open, and it's free as always, but the elves just need you to register so they know how many floats and entries will be taking part.

The elves have already opened up the bags for candy and could still use some sponsors to help out.

Runners and a sunny Mother Nature showed up for the 44th annual Terry Fox run

Dozens of runners, walkers, strollers and dogs showed up at Sunday's 44th annual Terry Fox run in High River.

Volunteer organizer Brenda McCredie said the weather turned out, as did people showing up to support the cause.

"It was so good this year. We had a record number of participants, and a record number of money raised. Right now, we're at about $4,600 but there's still more coming in. We had about 150 participants. We had the run club again from Joe Clark, so we had about 40 kiddos come out and their parents."

Swift Current's Memorial Bench Program sees upgrades & additions

The City of Swift Current's Memorial Bench Program has been honouring the lives of community members for nearly a decade and recently installed a duo of new additions.

One of the new memorial benches that was put in just this year is located near Buffalo Park while the other can be found just north of the Kiwanis Bike Safety Park off the Chinook Pathway.

Michael Newell, parks manager for the City of Swift Current, noted that after concerns about the wooden memorial benches, the City made the shift to sturdier, vinyl benches.
