Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce reacts to election results
The Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce has given its thoughts on the results of the 2025 federal election.
After Election Day on Monday, April 28, David Bexte was elected as the MP of the Bow River riding, and it's projected that the Liberal Party will be running the federal government.
According to chamber secretary Cody Holdaway, the organization sent an email to Bexte, congratulating him for the win.
Drumheller RCMP charge man after driving vehicle into store
RCMP have arrested and charged a Drumheller man with break and enter, theft, and mischief.
Drumheller RCMP said they responded to a break and enter at Nacmine Convenience Store at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29.
According to police, a male driver had used his vehicle to enter the store, causing damage to the business and its inventory.
Officers later located and arrested 29-year-old Zachary Centrone and charged him with:

Smile Cookie week at Tim Horton's has been a huge success so far.
Residents can volunteer at any local Tim Horton's to decorate the cookies.
Chris Korpi, the restaurant manager at the Edgefield location, claimed they have raised $6,000 already.
"The main thing that we're raising money for is Strathmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)."
Korpi told StrathmoreNow the reason why they picked the FCSS for the funding.
13-year-old girl missing from Siksika Nation
Gleichen RCMP are asking for the public's help locating 13-year-old Autumn Raweater.
According to police, Raweater was last seen in Siksika Nation on Monday, April 28, at around 4 p.m.
"There is concern for her well-being," wrote Gleichen RCMP in a news release.

Elections Canada says more than 19.5M voters cast a ballot in federal election
Elections Canada says more than 68 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot in the federal election — more than 19.5 million people.
While this election was widely expected to see increased turnout, it did not surpass the record set in March 1958, when 79.4 per cent of eligible Canadians voted.
But the nearly 68.7 per cent turnout was the best since the 1993 federal election, which saw 69.6 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot.
New chicken restaurant opening in Strathmore
Strathmore is getting another new chicken restaurant.
In mid-April residents noticed signs for a Chicken Delight posted outside of a vacant business at Edgefield Place.
The business is the former home of Fritou Chicken, which operated in Strathmore between 2019 and early 2025.
Brassard Greenhouses offer potting program for local gardeners
There is only one day left to enter into Brassard Greenhouses potting program.
According to employee Cara Brown, the program is designed for people who struggle with using planters.
"If anybody has any problems with what to match, or they just don't want to plant them, we decided to make pots for people," said Brown.
"They can tell us what they want and what colours they want, and we can go ahead and plant them for them and give them back once the weather is a little more favourable."
Fire Restriction active in Strathmore
The Town of Strathmore is now under a Fire Restriction.
The restriction was put in effect on Monday, April 28, due to a moderate fire risk in the area.
"All previously issued open burn and fireworks permits have been cancelled," wrote the town on social media. "The Town will not be issuing new permits until the risk of fire subsides."
