A car safety kit can come in handy during the winter

While many people don’t talk about them, it may prove to be in your best interest to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle in the event of a break down, especially during the winter months.

Having a car break down on the side of the road is always frustrating, and tempers can flare even higher when the temperature drops during the winter. Keeping certain supplies and equipment in the vehicle can go a long way to making your stop as short as possible.

In the event of getting stuck on the side of the road, there are a few items that serve as the bare necessities.

Turning back time

Canada first observed Daylight Savings Time in 1908.

That is the practice of setting clocks forward one hour from Standard Time during the summer months, and then setting clocks back an hour in the fall.

This gives people more light in the morning and makes better use of natural daylight.

At 2 a.m. this Sunday November 6 many Canadians will set their clocks back one hour.

The only areas in Canada that do NOT change their clocks are Saskatchewan, the Yukon, some locations in Quebec, Southampton Islands and some areas of British Columbia.

Elrose Terry Fox Walk will have you shaving your legs

The Elrose Composite School managed to have some fun, as students made some special bets with some of faculty and students if they raised a certain amount of money for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Halaena Sarmiento one of the leaders of the Student Leadership Council, explains how much money the school brought in.

“We set up a goal which was $4,000 and we were actually kind of surprised by the total, as we had $4,232.”

One of the bets included shaving/waxing Mr. Wright and Mr. Kingwell's legs, which happened on Thursday.
