First Street closed today in Dryden

The City of Dryden is warning drivers of delays and a detour in the community today.

Crews say First Street from Pollock Lane to Grand Trunk Avenue will be closed today until 6 p.m., as crews work to complete repairs to the water distribution system.

A detour is in place for residents to use Pollock Lane to access First Street.

Public Works apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the public for their cooperation at this time. Anyone with any questions or concerns is asked to call them at 807-223-2367.

Moncrief crews working on Essex Road repairs

More repairs are coming to Essex Road, causing even more delays for area residents this summer.

The City of Kenora says beginning today and ending by September 16, Moncrief Construction will be performing ditch line and gravel surface remediation work between the East Mellick Road intersection to 0.5 kilometres south of the Hooterville Trail intersection. Traffic control will be in place.

Collision near Clearwater Market

Traffic delays are expected along Highway 17 today near the Clearwater Bay Market after a two-vehicle collision.

Emergency responders with the OPP and the McKenzie Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department are on scene. As it stands, no injuries have been reported.

Update: QEII road closures will affect northbound and southbound lanes this week

Starting on Monday, August 29 at 9 A.M., the Northbound outside single lane of the QEII will be closed to accommodate gravel deliveries and to allow safe access off the highway for gravel trucks in the work zone.

The northbound lane closures will last till 3 P.M. every day and are slated to continue till Saturday.

Conversely, on Thursday, September 1 and Friday, September 2, starting at 9 A.M. QEII Southbound outside single lane will also be closed to accommodate safe barrier delivery and installation in the work zone. The closure will be in effect till 3 P.M.

More QEII Northbound lane closures start today

Starting on Tuesday, August 23 at 9 A.M., the northbound outside single lane of the QEII will be closed. The closures will be ongoing till Saturday. 

The lane closure closures will last each day till 3 P.M. and are meant to accommodate gravel deliveries and to allow safe access off the highway for gravel trucks in the work zone.

Motorists are reminded that the speed limit within the construction zone is 80 kilometres/hour.

Deerfoot Trail improvements announced

The first stage of improving Calgary's Deerfoot Trail will be happening at 64 Avenue and McKnight Boulevard.  

The changes between 64 Avenue and McKnight Boulevard will include an auxiliary lane between McKnight Boulevard and 64 Avenue and interchange improvements through ramp reconfiguration at the 64 Avenue interchange. 

OPP investigating Highway 17 crash between pick-up, semi

The OPP is investigating a collision between two vehicles on Highway 17 yesterday, which closed one lane of the highway for a few hours.

The OPP released new information on the collision on August 16, saying it took place at 12:30 p.m. between a pick-up truck pulling an RV that was turning onto Highway 17 from Highway 71, and a tractor trailer unit that was travelling on Highway 17.

Two individuals from the pick-up truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Lakeside road work to continue into November

Road work will be taking place in the Lakeside area until November, closing down a roadway and creating a detour for local residents.

The City of Kenora says Titan Contractors Kenora have started surface, water and sanitary sewer work on Seventh Avenue South, from Sixth Street South to Eighth Avenue South, with work expected to wrap up by November 10, 2022.
