Meyer takes top spot in Moose Jaw gymnastics event
Local gymnasts attended the Moose Jaw Stick It meet over the weekend.
Ashlynn Meyer of Gelico Gymnastics finished first in every event and all-around in the Xcel Diamond category.
Kayden Meyer finished 1st in floor exercise and 4th all-around in Xcel Platinum, while Brooklyn Leppa finished 1st on the beam and 5th all-around in the same category.
Football Association breaking barriers to get youth involved in sport
The Greater Okotoks Football Association is raising awareness of programming in the area with a try-it event this weekend.
On Saturday (May 3), youth between seven and 14 can try on equipment, throw and catch footballs, play games, and learn to tackle during the Football 101 drop-in event.
Parents will get to ask questions about the program and safety precautions.

From now until May 28, you can get adult season tickets for $289, seniors are $219, students (13-22) are $149, and youth (6-12) are only $99.
Prizes jump up to $349 for adults, $279 for seniors, $189 for students, and $139 for youth.
QB Kurtis Rourke highlights Saskatchewan Roughriders 2025 Draft class
It’s been a big week for the next wave of football players on both sides of the border. The Canadian Football League (CFL) draft took place on Tuesday night following the National Football League (NFL) Draft on the weekend.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders most prolific draft pick had his name called in both drafts.
With their third-round selection (25th overall), the green and white selected Quarterback Kurtis Rourke from Indiana University.
The SOLE-stice Classic track meet for youth returns June 1
The SOLE-stice Classic Regional Track and Field Meet is back on Sunday June 1 at Glenn Hall Park. The meet is designed to engage young athletes in track and field sports in the hopes that a newfound interest will spark further participation in the associated sports.
The grass roots meet includes running, jumping and throwing competitions. The term SOLE-stice comes from the idea that the final meet will be held close to the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.

The Edmonton Oilers have a 3-2 series lead and they're coming home with a chance to clinch. The Oilers came from behind last night and beat the Kings in LA 3-1. Game 6 is set for Edmonton's Rogers Place tomorrow night.
In other Stanley Cup playoff action, the Ottawa Senators shutout Toronto 4-0. The Maple Leafs lead in that series is now 3-2.
The Carolina Hurricanes have advanced, beating New Jersey 5-4 in overtime, taking that series 4 games to 1.
Hockey players' sexual assault trial grapples with tech issues
The sexual assault trial of five former members of Canada's world junior hockey team grappled with technological issues Tuesday as prosecutors sought to show security footage from a bar where the complainant and some of the players were the night of the alleged incident.
Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube and Callan Foote have all pleaded not guilty to sexual assault in connection with an encounter at a hotel room in London, Ont., in 2018.
McLeod has also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of being a party to the offence of sexual assault.
McCann helps Tigers claw toward WHL final
The Medicine Hat Tigers will look to book their spot in the WHL championship series tonight, needing just one more win to eliminate the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The Tigers took a 3-0 stranglehold on the best-of-seven series with a wild 8-7 overtime victory on Tuesday night in Lethbridge. The back-and-forth affair saw both teams trade leads before Medicine Hat emerged on top with a goal at 2:41 in the extra frame.
Cochrane product Kadon McCann contributed to the high-scoring effort of the Tabbies.

Basketball star Hildebrand honoured to be part of Graduating All-Star game
Lilly Hildebrand was selected to be a part of the Graduating A-AAA All-Star game and the dynamic basketball star not only had a great time, but showcased her skills.
"I came from a very sports-inclined family, that loved basketball especially," Hildebrand explains with a smile. "I grew up playing with my older brother, who actually coaches in Winkler and my sister, who also coaches. They taught me everything I know, they encouraged me to get better at the sport and always challenged me."
