Terriers eliminated from Turnbull Cup Playoffs in Game 6
The Portage Terriers’ season has come to an end as they fell 3-2 to the Dauphin Kings on Monday night. Dauphin takes the best of seven Turnbull Cup semi final 4-2 and will now move on to play the Northern Manitoba Blizzard in the final.

Community support fuels growth of Westman Region soccer
Orlin Chalmers, the Technical Director for the Westman Region Soccer Association, is very excited to get going with another fun year of soccer programs.
This year is going to be special, as Chalmers says things are ramping up. "We're all very excited, we're going to be starting new programming throughout. We're looking forward to seeing how the kids develop and seeing them go home with happy faces."

Central Plains youth hockey shines at AAA Hockey Challenge ▶️
Central Plains youth hockey teams made a major statement over the weekend at the Brandon Source for Sports AAA Hockey Challenge, with both the Chiefs and the Capitals returning home with hardware and high praise from their coaches.
The Central Plains Chiefs 2016 squad, led by co-head coach Ryan Ozunko, claimed the championship title in the 2016 Gold Division, finishing the weekend with an impressive 4-1 record.
"The boys came out very good, winning the championship game on Sunday against the Brandon Stealth Wolves."
Three local teams in Sask Cup volleyball action
A strong weekend for the 18UW Elite Sundogs Volleyball Club who won five in a row at Sask Cup #3 before falling in the semifinal.
They beat Summit, Esterhazy, the Grizz, the Blitz Blackout and the Cougars all in straight sets.
The Sundogs then fell 21-25, 25-20, 13-15 to the Wolfpack in the semifinal.
Swift Current then dropped the third-place match to Stealth 25-21, 25-20.
The Sundogs Selects went 2-5 at the event.
The 17UW Sundogs Elite also finished fourth at their own Sask Cup #3.
Red Wings are off to the SJHL Finals
Josh Sale tipped a point shot from Dallen Oxelgren just over five minutes into overtime to give the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings a berth in the SJHL finals. The goal gave the Red Wings a 3-2 win in the game and a 4-2 win in the series over the Flin Flon Bombers.
"I just saw the shot coming and realized I probably needed to deflect it," Sale said of the series-winning goal. "I deflected it in, and I kind of blacked out for a second, then realized we won. It's kind of the best feeling in the world."

Strathmore fan hoping Flames can sneak into playoffs
Calgary Flames fan and Strathmore resident Nick Leblond is hoping his team can make the playoffs.
"It's been pretty crazy," said Leblond.
The Flames are two points behind the St. Louis Blues for the eighth and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
All the Flames need to do is win their last two games of the regular season — and hope that the Blues lose their last game.
There's also a chance the Flames could also sneak into seventh place by winning out and hoping the Minnesota Wild lose their final game.
City encouraging community involvement at 2025 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games
The Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games City of Grande Prairie 2025 (SOGP 2025) is officially under 100 days away from kicking off. The sport tourism event welcomes over 1000 athletes from 20 affiliates across Alberta and the Northwest Territories to compete in Grande Prairie from July 11 to 13, 2025.
The Host Organizing Committee Games Manager attended City Council on Monday, April 7 to provide an update on the Games which included information about the Athlete Ambassador Program, fundraising initiatives and an event overview.
