Landmark volleyball star Plett still soaking in being a National Champion

Aviendah Plett started out playing volleyball in Landmark and after years of dedication, hard work and love of the game, she was part of the U of M Bisons that claimed the National Championship this season. 

"Honestly, the feeling is so surreal, I don't think it's fully sunk in yet," Plett says with a big smile, still energized when thinking about what her team accomplished. "It's been almost two weeks, but it is just really, really cool. I'm so grateful for the opportunity, for my coaches and for my teammates, it's just awesome."

Clippers prepared for big game six with history on the line

It's been a terrific Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League final and with the Clippers leading 3-2 and at the CRRC tonight, they're looking to bring their best effort and make some history.

Head Coach Todd Anderson was buzzing with excitement when reflecting on the series to this point. "I'm very happy now thinking back, that we stole game one to eventually lead 3-2," he said very matter-of-factly. "The last game, we didn't play very well. We didn't really show up. We had a bit of a cushion but the boys need to put in the work to try and finish this thing off."

Doug Raycroft signs on for another year of coaching the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings

Doug Raycroft will be taking another year to coach the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.

The Kings made the announcement on social media earlier this month, saying that this will be the third year Raycroft has served as head coach.

"His dedication and vision have helped shape the teams on ice success, and we’re excited to build on this momentum moving forward," the Kings wrote. 

Raycroft said the decision to continue his coaching career with the Strathmore-based hockey team took a lot of thought.

League title Tuesday in Hi Way 14 Hockey League

The Hi Way 14 Hockey League celebrated two league champions and started another championship in a thrilling night of playoff action.

In U15, the Outlook Ice Hawks claimed the championship after defeating the Kindersley Klippers on home ice. After the Ice Hawks won 7-5 in Game 1, Outlook triumphed again in Game 2, breaking a tie with just five minutes left to secure a 5-4 victory and the league title.

National coach Jeff Stoughton offers advice for Team Canada

A ton of world championship experience will be in Team Canada’s corner when they compete at the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship from March 29 to April 6 at the Temple Gardens Centre in Moose Jaw.

Mitchell's 62 saves and Bansley's OT winner lift Broncos to a Game 3 win over Flin Flon

Wednesday’s Game 3 between the Humboldt Broncos and Flin Flon Bombers turned into a marathon, heading into double overtime, in the end the Broncos provided the final sprint over the finish line, winning 3-2 and cutting the series deficit to 2-1.  

Zach Bansley scored the overtime winner in his first game in his first game back in the lineup after missing the last ten games with a lower body injury.
