Didsbury’s CAO resigns following closed council meeting
The Town of Didsbury’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has resigned following a special closed council meeting on Feb. 24 that discussed personnel matters.
Council voted to accept Ethan Gorner’s resignation, effective immediately. Gorner served as CAO since January 2020.
"We thank Mr. Gorner for his time and service to the organization and the community," Mayor Rhonda Hunter said in a statement. "We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Ottawa wants to deepen intelligence sharing with European partners, as longtime ally Washington diverges from Canada on issues like Ukraine.

The state of the Canadian economy and U.S. President Donald Trump's trade threats topped the agenda for the Liberal party's English language leadership debate, the second in as many days and the last of the campaign.
Presumed front-runner and former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney and former finance minister Chrystia Freeland clashed over the Liberal government's record of economic management.

Red Deer approves renovations for Sorensen Station washrooms; scheduled to reopen in 2026
During Monday's City Council meeting, Red Deer City Council discussed the Sorensen Station Washroom project and instructed administration to move forward with plans to have the facilities open by the end of March 2026.
Additionally, City Council directed administration to open a semi-permanent washroom facility in Red Deer’s downtown, like prior years, for the summer of 2025.

The Innisfail RCMP have advised that both teens have been found safe.

The Innisfail RCMP were seeking public assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old and 14-year-old.
They were last seen on Jan. 30.
There was concern for their well-being.
RDP Expands Practical Nurse Program to Camrose
Through Campus Alberta Central, rural learners will now be able to enrol in Red Deer Polytechnic’s (RDP) Practical Nurse Diploma in Camrose.
Students will be able to access theory courses online, and labs will be done in-person at the Central Alberta Campus community partner site, the Bethany Group’s Rosehaven building in Camrose.

Lacombe FCSS launches Community Grant Program
Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has announced the launch of its 2025 FCSS Community Grant Program.
The goal is to support preventive social programs that strengthen individuals, families, and the community.
A total of $55,000 is available to non-profit organizations based in the City of Lacombe.
The deadline to apply is April 11th.
