Leader musician takes on Kansas City for Folk Alliance International

Southwest musician headed to Kansas City to connect with folk music leaders.

Leader's Berk Jodoin made the trip to Kansas City, a place known for their jazz, with his daughter Milly. The two were introduced to a brand-new world of music with artists from all over the world gathering in one place.

"I watched a band from Sweden--they were a string band and were playing instruments I had never seen before," Jodin said. "It sounded fantastic, but I had to ask them what their instruments were called."

Leader musician 'feeling validated' after nomination for Canadian music award

Back in October word was received from Leader musician Berk Jodoin himself as he wanted to share the upcoming release of his song 'The Sailor' that debuted a few weeks back now on November 4th. Also included in Jodoin's email was the fact that his song 'Half Breed' earned him a nomination for next year's Canadian Folk Music Awards taking place in Vancouver, BC.

Invasive species framework released for Saskatchewan

Last week, an announcement was made regarding Invasive Species Framework in Saskatchewan.

According to the release, the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture are pleased to release their new plan to help manage the threat and impact of invasive species in Saskatchewan, such as purple loosestrife, zebra mussels and mountain pine beetles. 

24/7 emergency services restored at Biggar and District Health Centre

Official as of yesterday at the local Biggar and District Health Centre, 24/7 emergency services were restored for people in and around the West Central community. This was only made possible by the recruitment of 4 Registered Nurses.

The recent announcement came courtesy of the office of Biggar-Sask Valley MLA Randy Weekes through an email, as the Member himself filmed this special video posted to his Facebook announcing the long awaited return of emergency services to Biggar:
