Appeals for Rimrock's proposed biodigester must be submitted by next week
The Environmental Appeals Board wants to hear from locals in the Foothills regarding the proposed biodigester.
Approval for the Rimrock Biodigester Facility was granted by the Director of Alberta Environment and Protected Areas on December 11, 2023.
The file number is 484778-00-00 for those wishing to submit an appeal.
The Board is now accepting appeals until next Friday, October 18, 2024.

Update: Diamond Valley crews respond to water main break
Water pressure has been restored to most of Black Diamond after a water main break on Thursday (Oct. 10).
The Town of Diamond Valley took to Facebook to let people know about the break, which occurred on Government Road on the Black Diamond side of the community.
Pressure changes and disruptions were anticipated while crews worked on repairs.
Just after 4 p.m., the Town posted again to let people know repairs had restored pressure to most affected residents.
Local inclusive employers shine at first DEAM All-Star Celebration
Inclusion Foothills recently recognized a handful of Foothills businesses' efforts in inclusive hiring.
The organization's first Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) All-Star Celebration event was on Monday (Oct. 7) at the Crystal Shores Beach House.
While Inclusion Foothills has celebrated DEAM for a few years now, they wanted to step things up this year and hold an in-person event to celebrate inclusive employers.
Water repair work is happening in Okotoks this week
Some water repair work is happening this week in Okotoks.
Crews will be replacing a section of water pipe for the Crystal Shores Booster Station.
The work will be done on October 10 and 11, and originally, they were anticipating a portion of Crystal Shores Road to be closed, but crews are now able to complete the necessary work while keeping the road open.
Some fires are prohibited in the Calgary Forest Area
If you're planning to head out to the Calgary Forest Area, be careful where you start a fire.
As of October 8, the Calgary Forest Area is under a fire advisory due to the warm, dry conditions, and strong wind the area has been experiencing.
Now that the area is under an advisory, existing fire permits are suspended, and no new ones will be issued.
Danger of carbon monoxide poisoning more present with colder months ahead
With the colder months knocking on the door, carbon monoxide may make its way into homes as furnaces start to see wider use.
Carbon monoxide is known as the "silent killer" because it is odourless and colourless.
Because of that, the number one way of protecting yourself from potential risks is to have a carbon monoxide detector.
High River Fire Chief Cody Zebedee explains that while the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning is always present, it increases in the colder months.
