The Willard family have been involved in the sport for three generations now.
Blake and Shelly Willard still live in the Foothills and are welcoming generations of Willards and Nelsons all weekend long.
Blake is the nephew of Hank Willard, who still holds the record for winning the Rangeland Derby at the Calgary Stampede five years in a row from 1951 to 1955.

The Saskatoon Farm has closed its food service facilities indefinitely following an order from Alberta Health Services (AHS).
According to a notice posted by the business on Wednesday evening (July 23), the closure affects the farm’s restaurant, bakery, and Red House.
The order will remain in place until conclusive test results are returned as part of an ongoing AHS investigation.
Community mourns loss of 23-year-old Okotoks woman fatally shot in Calgary

Warrants have been issued for two people from High River in connection to an organized vehicle theft ring.
In December 2024, the Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit, along with the Central Intelligence Service of Alberta and the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region Intelligence, identified numerous individuals who were registering fraudulent VINs under an unsuspecting person's name without their permission.
They were using the Alberta Registries Third-Party Authorization system to register those fraudulent VINs.
$6 million investment announced for Manitoba's agri-food sector
Manitoba is continuing to work on growing the agri-food sector.
Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn announced over $6 million in funding from the province and the federal government to increase food processing opportunities.
The announcement was made at Maple Leaf Foods in Brandon, one of the recipients of the funding.
Maple Leaf's President of Pork Operations Dennis Organ says the investment will help modernize the Brandon pork facility with state-of-the-art equipment, improving reliability, efficiency and production quality.
