A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for parts of the Foothills.

Environment Canada warns of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

It was issued at around 12:20 p.m. for the following locations:

Foothills County RCMP have released more information on a collision east of Diamond Valley.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 7 around 9 p.m. on Sunday (May 11).

It involved two Dodge trucks, one driven by a 37-year-old woman and the other by a 39-year-old man.

According to the RCMP, the female driver was airlifted to hospital via STARS air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was driven to hospital with serious injuries, and is expected to recover.

The Nanton RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle collision early Monday morning. 

Around 2:38 a.m., a semi-trailer travelling northbound on Highway 2, south of Township Road 164, entered a ditch and rolled.  

You can expect delays south of Longview on the Cowboy Trail this week.

Recent signage in Longview alerted motorists over the weekend to expect delays due to road work from Tuesday to Friday this week.

Nanton Town Council is seeking design submissions for a community recognition wall at the local community centre.  

The wall is intended to honour residents who have demonstrated outstanding community service.  

Themes could include local sports achievements, local historical imagery, Nanton’s 120th anniversary as a municipality, or landscape and wildlife.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a snowfall warning for parts of K-Country.

Heavy, wet snow is expected to cover higher elevations from Kananaskis Village down to Highwood House at Hwy 940.

Between 10 and 15 cm is expected at high elevations, including the Highwood Pass.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Monday night, eventually tapering off tomorrow morning.

This could cause deteriorating travel conditions, especially along Highway 40.

Alberta's access to information watchdog has found the provincial government to be non-compliant with its own freedom of information rules.

A new report from information and privacy commissioner Diane McLeod says Alberta's government has implemented internal procedures and policies that allow government employees to wrongfully deny freedom of information requests.

Alberta's chief electoral officer is warning the government that proposed legislation will impair the election commissioner's power to investigate election rule breaking.

A controversial bill introduced last month, if passed, will make sweeping changes to voting and referendums in the province, and is making its way through debate in the legislature. 

The Foothills RCMP are on the scene of a serious collision east of Diamond Valley.

It happened on Highway 7 between 144 street and 128 street.

Traffic is being redirected while police and investigators are on scene.

It's not currently clear how many people were involved and the extent of their injuries.

More information is expected to be released later on.
