Renowned composer Joseph Koo, whose music helped form the soundtrack for what his family called the "Golden Era" of Hong Kong culture in the 1970s and '80s, has died in a Metro Vancouver hospital.

Koo's family said in a statement that he died of natural causes on Tuesday, six days short of his 92nd birthday.

The composer is closely associated with the heyday of Cantopop, writing songs for some of the biggest names of the Cantonese music genre as well as scoring movies including Bruce Lee's "Way of the Dragon" and "Fist of Fury."

NEW YORK (AP) — Alexei Ratmansky, one of the most acclaimed choreographers in the world, is stepping down from his perch at American Ballet Theatre, the company announced on Thursday.

              Ratmansky, who has held the title of artist in residence at ABT for 13 years, will leave at the end of his contract in June 2023. The company hailed his many contributions but said it did not have word on what Ratmansky might do next.

Throughout the week, Classic 107 will be introducing this year’s Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg Scholarship winners.

For more than 125 years, the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg has supported and encouraged young artists in their professional musical pursuits.  

On Wednesday, December 28, the organization presents over $11,000 in prize monies awarded to this year’s WMC Scholarship Winners.  

A cherished holiday classic returns to the Centennial Concert Hall this week. 

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents Nutcracker – a magical story with a ravishing score told through the beautiful and athletic art of dance.
