From Sunday November 20th to Saturday November 26th, The Canadian Federation of Music Teachers is celebrating the 61st annual Canada Music Week.

This Sunday November 20th through to Saturday, November 26 is Canada Music week. Music students and teachers from across the country will celebrating the vibrant music education landscape that runs from coast, to coast, to coast.

Violist Marina Thibeault and pianist Janelle Fung are a celebrated duo. Seasoned performers, compelling communicators, and original programmers, they are in Winnipeg to perform as part of Virtuosi Concerts 2022-23 season. 

A bounty of choral concerts await Manitoba audiences this weekend and one such show brings two choirs together to share in the music making. 

“Every year when we present Confluence, we invite a choir to sing with us,” explains Horizon Artistic Director Johanna Hildebrand.  

In this year’s concert, they welcome the Eastman Youth Choir, which is made up of senior high school students from across southeastern Manitoba who come together for three weekends of intensive workshops and performances.  

This Sunday, November 20th, at 3:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, the Mennonite Community Orchestra will be presenting a concert they are calling “The Power of Love.” This concert is a collaboration with the Mennonite Disaster Service.

Ray Dirks is ready to portray his final large project which contains his paintings that depict people he has met to showcase how diverse yet similar all of humanity is.

An Abbotsford, British Columbia-born artist will be showcasing his final project at Mennonite Heritage Centre Gallery on Friday, November 19 titled Thankful: moments, memories and some art.

For more than a century composers have conceived of the idea of a total work of art. One that combines, sound with light, colors, movement and images; what musicians sometimes refer to as  gesamtkunstwerk.

This Friday, November 18th at 7:30pm at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church,  The Fresh Blood Project in conjunction with Winnipeg’s GroundSwelll will be presenting Fresh Blood Project 3.

Living a varied and broad musical life, composer/musician Glenn Buhr has returned to Winnipeg. Best known in the city for his work as co-frontman of Winnipeg’s New Music Festival, Buhr’s latest brainchild is a magical mix of theatre and music, that welcomes a singer-songwriter, poet and special guest musicians to collaborate together in DreamPlay.
